Ian Parker Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 https://www.audionetwork.com/production-music/album/60s-soul_1749.aspx A drumming buddy of mine has played on a few recent recordings. most written by Steve Levine & Terry King. i'm suitably impressed. have a listen, see what you think. I reckon they've pretty much nailed the recording technique with a vintage Calrec bass drum mic and a single overhead condensor, vintage guitar amps and vocal mics he didnt tell me the reason for the recordings, maybe an album / live shows ? not sure
Guest Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Got to say sharon jones and the dap kings have a 60's funk soul feel I know that at there recording studio that they use anolouge gear
Markw Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Four Vandals was supposed to sound 60s............except it didn't, unless you had cloth ears.
Autumnstoned Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Agree your mate's drums sound terrific - talented skins man too by the sound of things. They're not bad tunes and if I had anything to do with them I'd be very proud. Ian,are you familiar with Big Boss Man & The Bongolian? I think you'd really like them. The guy behind both outfits is Nasser ? ( forgotten his surname ) but he has the vintage sound totally nailed too IMO! ATB Mike Edited June 2, 2012 by autumnstoned
