one has just gone through jms auction.... Delreys Incorporated

Destination Unknown

When the legendary Cleethorpes Winter Gardens held their very last event only a few of years back all the original DJ's turned out to pay homage to one of the greatest Northern Soul venues ever, and the promoters by Mary Chapman and Hubby this groundbreaking holiday destination will go down in history as having not one but two All-niters running simultaneously.

Who could forget the 1975 Winter-Walk of death from THE PEIR heading south down the North Sea shore for 1/2 a mile to THE WINTER GARDENS.

What has erect frozen nipples, blue nose & fingers got to do with Delreys Incorporated? Well, some 30 years or more later at the Re-Union this was the most requested 45 of that day.

It was, after all a CLEETHORPES MONSTER...

This is the extremely difficult to net - ORIGINAL - in fine clean condition.

Sorry, this item has already been won!

The winning bid was £ 433.00

Bought mine for a £10.00 mid eighties ( original ) , first record I heard from a " Live " Wigan tape and fell in love with it as a teen , sold my copy my to a well known DJ in 2000 for £100 , nice record but I thought overpriced even then

I seem to remember a lad's custom vespa decked out in this years ago and the single as the main theme , anybody :g:

As Mr. Plumb rightly comments the deep ballad on the flip is a killer, and the reason I kept it out of a job lot, from a dealer who had pulled all the northern [!] out of a big collection and moved the deep stuff on to me. One of the half dozen bits I kept. Probably worked out at 65p. Nice.

Remember that too. Owner's name was Eddie, "Eddie's my name" on Parkway painted on it as well (on the front I think)

It's Eddie Wainwright's scooter........ full on loon :D :D

I've seen enough copies the last two years or so to more than satisfy those on here who want one for £150. Now you kow full well now some loon paid so much for one, and others on here saying it is worth £250 one so you have no chance of paying what it has cost in more recent times.

Here's a scan of the Boot (on top) and the original (below) together for comparison.

Personally, I found it a difficult original to track down. I was told by a major dealer he was offered and took £400 in trades for a copy recently by a respected DJ.

I have loved the tune since the 70's and think it fits well with the current fashion of funkier tunes.

Well I've dug it out [not a great filing clerk] and the matrix, to my failing eyes, seems to be scratched so not a real one. Still 65p for a ballad I'll only play at home [though I did play it on the radio covering for RS during a spurs cup run back in the late 80's/early '90's and a few weeks later it came out on a goldmine cd-funny that] so I can't complain too muchly.

thanks again team
