Guest in town Mikey Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 On a summers type spell like we're just expereincing. My thoughts on songs t listen to sometimes alter from the noem. Just lately I've been digging out and searching on you tube for songs that have a summery feel to them. Something that you'd love on the car CD while travelling thru Monte Carlo with the sun down. For me thats songs played on the soul scene, that are probably just as sought after on the Doo Wop circuit. Number one for me today is Edwick Rumbold - Specially When. There must be a whole load of songs like this that have become popular on the niter scene?
Dekka Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I must say mate, never really heard that much doo wop on the niter scene, but then again, would never do venues that played it, so that's really just a personal thing. I think if I was driving through Monte carlo with the car top down, then, Summer Breeze, Isley Brothers, would be perfect
Supercorsa Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Best summer tune has to be The Young Rascals -Groovin'.

Tiberius Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Much of the material by The Trends would fit the bill.
Steve Myers Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Absolutely love Doo Wop, or to be more accurate I prefer to call it vocal harmony, loads of early Vibrations tracks fit the bill, especially the stuff on Checker or Okeh. Miracles, Dells, Showmen, Coasters and many many "Soul" groups started out as "Doo Wop" and some of their best work is from the early to mid 60s period ...........
spike1 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 In the temptations film (is it sex drugs& rythmn n blues)? They depict the temps (before they were called that) Singing "stay" on a street corner just harmonies no music sounds great Do you think that a lot of the early 4 seasons tunes come into the do wop / soul genre? Big girls don't cry stay Walk like a man Ect? Would the early tunes like The walk jimmy mc cracklin Little queenie bill black Be classed as crossover r n b/ rock n roll/ soul / do wop? Spike
Robbk Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 A large portion of the "Soul" groups of the mid '60s started out singing Vocal Group Harmony.
