... it's the Count AKA Bob Ellis ... what else do you expect? To make it even worse it's a VG- copy of Soft Walkin which is maybe worth $25 tops and he's got a friggin' reserve on it! He's a legend in collectors circles here in the States but for all the wrong reasons!!! I've got a slew of Count stories, this is another to add to my repertoire!

i've had some previous with this guy myself,

he gave me a great hard luck story a few years back, joe.

he's always on some "send me a check ASAP, I'm living from record sale to record sale" BS. He says he has 200,000 records or something like that. He might actually sell some of them if he priced them at the price someone would buy them. Also:

I remember looking at a stall at a U.S. record show many years back, and up jumps this clown from behind, telling me that the prices were in U.K. Sterling, not U.S. Dollars - even if they were in Dollars I still don't think that $200 was a great price for "Evie Sands - Take Me For A Little While - Blue Cat" !!! I avoided him for a long, long time, but the count finally confronted me about 4 Years ago and asked me why I didn't buy records off him, I told him that I don't pay much for records, he then asked me how much I would pay for a record that's "100" in the Manship book to which I said "$2", he said I was insane and has never approached me again at a record show with his irritating whining. Good luck to anyone who deals with him, if you get a good deal out of him - you deserve it.

Must be something in the water in that part of the country as Stinky Steve also comes from around there (Philly area) and I'll tell you as nuts and pathetic as the Count is Stinky Steve takes it to a whole nuther level. Fortunetly for the rest of the world he's not on line as he lives out of his car. By the way the story above about his prices being in pounds is 100% true. He pulled that at the New Jersey Soultrip USA event a few years back. A young lady customer of mine was upset after she found out that the VG copy of Etta James Seven Day Fool she bought from him at that show that he banged her $200 for was alittle bit on the high side. On a more serious note one of the Count's sons recently commited suicide about a month or two ago.
