I Won't Cry C/w Drip Drop

One of Detroit's most-wanted!

From the man who rocked the world with "Cool Jerk" - Don Storball teams up with Johnnie Mae Matthews & James Bennett for another vibrant Northern Soul session, echoing everything good about primitive 60s Motor City dance music.

Strongly influenced by an uncredited vocal-group this recordings rises and falls at will, providing the NS dancer with plenty pace-changing moments with expressive vocals burying themselves deep into this street-level creation, a proper soul-dance experience.

So very highly regarded, rare in the extreme and saturated in all the fundamental qualities - that makes a RARE NORTHERN SOUL..........Great!

Frankie (love Man) Crocker

Ton Of Dynamite

This sheer depth of diversity in Northern Soul is underlined by this listing.

Mid-70s witnessed most-DJs including myself just waiting for what Colin Curtis would play next, he was after all the most innovative and respected of jocks. Cleethorpes Pier Allniter in it's infancy hung onto the Blackpool Mecca's coattails emulating it's every move.

This fusion of funk, jazz and attitude, was a groundbreaking play that opened the way for the likes of James Coit, Andre Maurice, Prince George etc Adding funk into the turntable choices of rare 45s.

Before you today is a fine clean ORIGINAL first press of a 45 that broke into new territory championed by outrageously brave DJing of Mr. Curtis.

Miracles

Shop Around

Do soul artifacts come any more historic than this extremely rare 1961 British 4 track EP with cover.

The group shot says it all doesn't it, the happy pose of five team mates who had recently recorded Motown biggest seller to date.

4 track are: 1. Shop Around 2. Who's Loving You 3. Ain't It Baby 4. The Only One I Love

Front cover is near perfect, back cover has a tiny light signature, very small and discreet. Both labels are near perfect. Both sides of the vinyl only reveal light surface blemishes in strong light.

Totally impossible to find in Mint, near impossible to acquire in this fine condition.

Top drawer Tamla Motown Collector piece.

A timeless MOD Club classic, not worth a Kings ransom, but as a 1966 British DEMO is it a Brit-Soul "Crown Jewel"

So very, very hard to find UK black "A" Demo's and this one is of a timeless piece that reverberated around every club in the golden year of 1966

Blues & Soul No. 10

July 1968 No. 10

The late 60s art cover represents and opportunity to frame one of the rarest examples of the early first 20 in this highly sought after series. It is that eye-catching, Nina Simone as never seen before.

This July issue covers stage-FRAUD - the distasteful habit of some promoters to give "mock" group a famous name, as they tour England ie The Fabulous Temptations were apparently dreadful. But absolutely fantastic, was Aretha Franklin's live performance at Finsbury Park, Astoria May 11th. 1968.

Bio's and pics on the following iconic 60s soul artists inc: Oscar Toney Jr., Nina Simone, Little Walter, THE FOUR SONICS! Lorraine Ellison, Sylvia, Archie Bell

Full page adverts from Island Records back page of EMI new release soul albums. All the new release reviews from the UK & the USA.

Totally vital information for the rare-soul scholar who enjoys traveling back in time!

He's A Flirt C/w That Boy

Many time served Northern Soul collectors may never have experienced this Beyond-Rare 45 in the flesh before.

Yes this is the FIRST PRESS this 1966 double-helping of real-deal proper girl-group Northern Soul of the very finest kind.

Not only is it stupidly scarce - this copy is amazingly MINT - Two perfect labels and vinyl that gives the impression it has been filed away for the last 46 years.

You will NOT find a better copy - or indeed a finer double example of the genre. The triumphant trio of Anthony Renfro, Arther Wright & Ronald Saunders yet again, craft Northern Soul brilliance.

Billy Proctor & The Love System

Keeping Up With The Joneses C/w Chop Down That Oak Tree

Incredibly elusive STOCK copy with the good side, that is so annoyingly missing from the mono / stereo promo.

Wah Wah and horn intro gives way to Billy's supremely smooth voice neatly layered over a full string section, supported by vocal-group harmony chorus from the Love System.

A truly fabulous pre-disco revolution New York project strongly influenced by Philadelphia. The side Epic ran with is good too, but completely pales in comparison to the flip that is ONLY available as this so-seldom-seenSTOCK copy!

What Goes Around (comes Around) C/w You Got To Let Me

How good it this! Collectors should be walking barefoot to our door to own this 45.

Check the sound file and ask yourself why this is not ringing the changes in every Soul-Club across the land.

  • IT'S BRILLIANT!

Both sides give up staggering quality, dripping with soulful expression sewn into a feelgood production lifted by an uncredited male vocal group.

Shame on you, shame on me - the Northern Soul scene needs records of this quality on the turntables. So danceable, so decidedly classy.

PS the flip is every note as good - sorry if I sound excited, but I'm in heaven. Having not taken to time to listen to it for far too many years, this double- helping of fat-free SOUL has made my day, oh so very much better.

I Do C/w Darling

The relationship between Linden Oldham & Dan Penn crafted some of soul's finest works of art. As if this was a warm up session for the timeless masterpiece "Dark End Of The Street" for James Carr ..17 releases later..comes this mid-paced vocal-harmony-group delight! a seriously rare disc offering the same irresistible qualities this pairing are renowned for.

Top side is a scrumptious mid-tempo Memphis mover, full of addictive moments of tight-harmony bobbing on a simple but highly effective arrangement. The result is another killer-tune that has only suffered from it's own rarity, yet to break though but brimming with potential for a big ticket.

The flip will knock harmony-ballad fans sideways, as this accomplished band get down n' moody with a killer ballad.

Two great sides well-perched for long-overdue stardom.

Wallace Brothers

Lover's Prayer C/w Love Me Like I Love You

Without question of of the very rarest 45s in the series of this, the UK's most highly coveted and elusive of labels.

  • Just killer Deep Soul from this iconic gathering, that Kent honored with aCD release.

CD RELEASE!! Did I just write that, may my fingers be used for line-caught Tuna bait. This is the beloved SUE label, these are the outrageously soulful Wallace Brothers! This is a piece of British Soul history in it's rarest form.

But on second thoughts, go order the CD because the chances of owning this 45 or the legendary Wallace Brothers Sue album on SUE are ridiculously slim.

This alluring PROMO copy is just pristine, two perfect labels and Ex+ vinyl that has yet to grace a Northern Soul turntable.

Temprees

Three

Philadelphia the Mecca of Sweet Soul with the Stylistics & The Delphonics dominating the 70s vocal group sales with their commercially arrowed material.

So how refreshing to hear this Memphis / Philadelphia collaboration that retains undiluted soul integrity, this album drips with it; as it should do, when Bobby Eli, Earl Young, Ronnie Baker, Lester Snell, Tom Nixon are in the studio with three razor-sharp vocalists, the Memphis Symphony players dressing up the silky surrounds and Memphis Horns beefing up the backing.

After that build up, you are expecting some stand-out soul - click the soundfile that is exactly what'cha gonna get from this album, which is.
