During my school days, Scunthorpe United signed a striker called Jack Hutton. He couldn't hit a barn door from 6 yards away and every

time I played football, I had the same problem and ended up getting stuck with the nickname Jack by my school mates, which spread further afield via my youth club days etc.

Majority of people call me Steve or Thommo now, but on the soul scene, I have always been known as Jack from Scunthorpe, and with the town becoming a great place for music - Ashby Mill Road Club and Scunthorpe Baths to name two brilliant venues, Sunnyjack will still do..

I've always been called Paddy...................And big ears, big nose, fatboy, my favourite though was by a 6 year old girl a neighbours daughter who said to me 1 day, " your that bastard next door " such an angelic child. :)

Winnie was what my Mum used to call me, it's derivative of Winston, did think about changing it, I used 'wizened's chosen few' for a few months on facebook, I thought it was an incredibly witty play on words, but I found out what it really was, was something I had to explain on a daily basis, not quite so funny then :D

I do think nowadays it would be good to have peoples names on their profile somewhere, I do sign my more contentious posts with full name, though suspect large chunk know it already, it appears on a number of dartboards I believe.

I am more embarrased in real life since swathes of people, some good friends now only know me as this, which was kinda cute at first but sometimes now confusing. It took my mother 20 years to allow people to call me Jock, so Jocko would definitely be stretching it...

Only ever been Ian Sims or 'Simsy' on here over the past 7 years or so..

I think Dave Rimmer was right when he said you should have your real name displayed. 'Hoochycoo65', I mean wtf? I can't have a proper debate with a name like that!

couple of good points from jocko and ian and so have just added a "real public name" field to the profile

basically all members can now add their "public real name " and itwill show on the profile to all members

there is already a "private real name" field that members must fill in before access but that only shows to the site

i will post more later on this in a separate post - as with all stuff like this the hardest thing is making all members aware

but now you can now enter your real name here - which then shows on your profile

Adopting a very similar logic as dundeedavie I went for "chorleybloke" and now use it for umpteen other logon IDs totally unrelated to NS. Possible a bit of patriotism having lived in Oz for 20 years (to the day).

Call yourself what you like in the display name field but have the courtesy to sign your posts with your real name so people know who they are talking to/ being insulted by !!

Mike

I quite agree Mike. Hat's off to you for putting that....... So what's your real name :D

Yeah and I had to change my original name 'Chorleysoul', because dozens of people kept getting us mixed up lol.... , so I went for the simplest form of ID after that!!....

Peter99 is ok - there were other Peter's on here before me so had to add something. ranting_1.gif:rolleyes:

Following the gas explosion and my subsequent brain injury Bearsy and Moggy gave me the nickname(s) Ironside99 and Corgi Boy! They were cheeky feckers - but it was funny and I quite like them both. :D

Might change my avatar name to Ironside99 - it is quite original.

My username is soulofwigan on most forums I frequent such as this stocks and shares game

https://game.lse.co.uk/

Or this yahoo fantasy football discussion site

https://www.starting11.com/index.php?showuser=5154

But when I joined soulsource someone already had that username .. plus it would probably sound too pretentious a username with all the experts around here.

But where I got pinkyperky from I just don't know

Mine's a bit predictable and boring but i'm kinda attached to it now.

I use my proper name BUT every so often I get called Foggy which was my nickname for years when I lived down in Bedford. Winnie contacted me via Foggy, took me back I must say. Not really sure how I became Foggy, maybe cos my surname is not common? Maybe because in the 60,s there were 2 footballers called Foggo and Foggon ( I think). Maybe a derivative of that. Still all good fun.
