Northern Soul Or Doo Wop ?

There are many sought after records here in the U.S. as well as in the U.K. Tough somtimes to tell the difference between Doo Wop and Northern Soul. Here in my opinion is a fine example. Let me know your opinion DW or NS. I had a Promo and sold in in 1980 wicked.gif . Released in late 1962 or early 1963 on V-Tone Records out of Philadelphia, PA. No. 505 Jimmy and The Sundials "All About You".

Thank you,

FOSMAN

This is a common misconception with a lot of collectors here in the States. A lot of people associate Doo Wop with Northern Soul and even though the artists may have links, the actual musical genres are as apart as Trad Jazz and Rap imo. A lot of dealers here also work under the artist/label criteria, which as we all know is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard in terms of identifying a NS record. The amount of stuff filed as NS by someone like Garnett Mimms because of "Looking for you" is still frustrating! :D

1961 Forty Four years ago I bought a record by Dean Barlow on Lescay 3004 "Third Window From The Right". I had it up on eBay in 2000 and no takers with a min. bid of $9.99. Put it back on in 2004 and it sold for $355. A Promo copy of UA 951 "Looking For You" by Garnett Mimms is sought after as well as the stock copy. One that is kind of confusing is the Satintones on Motown 1020 "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart" (See Attached).

Since I stopped collecting Vinyl I have become an MP3 Fanatic. I have Thousands of them on CDs, DVDs and 3 external hard Drives. I guess it's still im the blood.
