Kapps a weird label; loads & loads of MOR stuff - old ladies music, old orchestras, etc .... and then the great soul stuff !!!

Who owned & ran the label and just what was their game plan for the label ...... ANYONE KNOW ??

My all-time favourite 45 on KAPP is however an early one by Ronnie James Dio (yes, that guy) from 1965. A tune penned by Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann called "Where You Gonna Run To, Girl". Hardly soul by any stretch of the imagination, but a fantastic track if you're into Brill Building pop. :)

Surely something within Billboard to cut'n'paste

I know there is a mention of them signing a Mr.Rubin Parker ...I have it within my piles of said magazines.

Hard to imagine the connection between the artist as he later became and such a great track.

Amongst my favourites would be the Exits - "Another sundown in Watts" a sublime piece of soul music.

Hi Steve

I'm not an expert but the repro's/boots have a black 'A' . Also I think that I have seen repro's with a red 'A' (think these have appeared relatively recently) that are so obviously duds that it's immediately apparent that they are not original.

Someone like Pete S could probably give you chapter and verse.

Rubin featured here as a new release ......

Billboard - 11 Nov 1967 - Page 12

Jerry Williams composed the flip side but Jerry doesn't recall who Rubin actually was

Only posting as a label curiosity . . . unless of course you want it, in which case it's an exclusive hard to find dance floor monster, just right for today's scene :sleep3:

In my non-expert opinion....that's an Original!!!

Joking aside...definite Original Promo!

In your opinions, would you say that this is an original promo please?

Genuine.

If anyone has got a mint looking promo that sadly plays all the way through with a hiss, then maybe it's my old copy...it got damaged when I DJed with it one time. Shame really as I had bought that copy from Russ Winstanley straight off the decks at one of the final Casino nighters!! Almost wish I had kept it now for sentimental reasons!
