Tlscapital Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Hi, I'm looking for a friend a copy on the look alike ABC backed with Eddie Reagan. Cheers, Tim
Pete S Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) You'll look for a long time then Tim cos it was never issued with Eddie Regan on the other side... ABC counterfeit, looks superb, pressed in 1977 and at exactly the same time, Eddie Regan done. The Sapphires issued with Eddie Regan on B side, UK ABC Edited May 16, 2012 by Pete S 1
dthedrug Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 HI Pete I think he means, the US ABC Preessings, in the case of the YUM YUMS, it is the hardest to find now in 2012, DAVE 1
Tlscapital Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 Cheers guys, boots and reissues are not my speciality and since it's not for me, I haven't been too inquisitive on what price it command nowadays and what pressings/reissue it came out (I just found out it even had a Stardust release (one of the worst label to own any wich record on I think ) ! But still, she'll be happy with any 'good' sounding sort of reissue. Keep looking... Tim

I've turned down £200 for mine. Seriously.

Tim Tim there is an ABC bootleg from about 10 years back with some other artist on the B side (Trends?) which you should be able to find cheaply and easily. It's just the 1977 counterfeit which remains very hard to find.
Guest allnightandy Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 He wants the Yum Yums though not The Sapphires I'll get me coat
Tlscapital Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 Tim there is an ABC bootleg from about 10 years back with some other artist on the B side (Trends?) which you should be able to find cheaply and easily. It's just the 1977 counterfeit which remains very hard to find. Hi Pete, I have the Sapphires myself (softer spot for me: VOCALS !!!) for myself. Even though I find the Yum Yums also good and different (wich makes it a plus), I for some reason always prefered the Sapphires (against most opinions I guess) and so never was on the look out for it. Even turned down a mint black stock issue for 50 £ some 20 years ago. My friend is really not rich and not into collecting but, she totally fell for it and is having difficulties locating a copy. Wich indeed doesn't prove easy apparently (I wouldn't have imagine that). So the most likely one I could locate cheap and is the one coupled wirth Holly St James (down side to the deal really). Still, if anybody can help me getting one; welcome. Cheers, Tim
Ernie Andrews Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Why not just get it on CD then if she doesnt collect etc! 1
Peter99 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I prefer the Yum Yums. The vocals sound really young and unadulterated.
dthedrug Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 HI ALL The problem with trying to get the US ABC Boot look a like, is it never comes up for sale, although value is about £20, most people would keep hld of it, as it is such a classic and the price diffarance between origanal, and for many the YUM YUMS is the winner?
Pete S Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 I prefer the Yum Yums. The vocals sound really young and unadulterated. Yum Yums is my all time favourite Northern Soul record. 2
Guest allnightandy Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Are the Yum Yums just the Sapphires using a different singer ? some groups did used to use different singers ? Edited May 22, 2012 by allnightandy
Pete S Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Are the Yum Yums just the Sapphires using a different singer ? some groups did used to use different singers ? No, Sapphires are the Honey & the Bees (Arctic) I think... Edited May 22, 2012 by Pete S
Trev Thomas Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 No, Sapphires are the Honey & the Bees (Arctic) I think... it was the yum yums who became honey & the bees 1
