Supercorsa Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 What do you regard as your best two purchases of 2005? One for financial reasons and another for Soulful reasons! Mine were... (Financially) Eddie Kendrick - Date With The Rain - Tamla £3 (last two copies I saw were for £50) (Soulfully) The Artistics - Girl I Need You b/w Glad I Met You - Brunswick, one of the best soul records that I have in my box.
Guest Tommy Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Danny Monday - Being without you - Modern - $3 (that was the bargin of the year - I would have said Milton Parker... but that cost me $6 ) Best buy for my collection: Royal Five - Say it too my face... great stuff!
Dave Moore Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Easy choice for me Financially - Franky Beverly - If That's What You Wanted - Gamble (Almost Free) Soulfully - Johnny Daye - Good Time - Jomada W/Demo Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
Guest taylormadesoul Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 THE GREATER EXPERIENCE - DONT FORGET TO REMEMBER also best bargin buy this year is ; 100% PURE POISON - YOU KEEP COMING BACK ( UK EMI ) @ 50p CARBOOT FIND !!!!
Craig W Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Had a poor year at the boot sales this year , I'm up most Sundays at 5am but not much about nowadays but I've had tons of really cheap stuff off Ebay listed in the wrong categories including a mint demo of The Chris Towns unit - Turn to me on Port for $2.00. The best value for money and the one that has given me the most listening pleasure is Love by Gladys on O-Gee for $40.00.
Guest OskarB Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 (edited) Tough one this. Best record was probably Ronnie Stokes - Touch you again. At least among the once bought recenlt enough for me to remember (one week ago, haven't picked it up from the post office yet). Dunno about the value of the mentioned one, but i think it was a bargain. Otherwise it's been a poor year bargain-wise. Ace Spectrum Keep on holding on for 1 USD (on e-bay, listed properly!) was probably the most noticable one. Not a rare record, but at about 5% of the going rate it's good value for money. Gene-r Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Financially: "Chequerboard Lover/I Feel It Coming On" by The Celestrials (Don-El) - £5 Soulfully: "Got To Find A Way Out" by The Mar-J's (Magic Touch)
Mark Bicknell Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Not really bought much this year to be honest but the few things i have found which have given me a great deal of pleasure include one of my biggest wants - Billy Keen - I Finally Got Wise - Galaxy DJ, my third copy of The Star Treks - Gonna Need Magic - Veep DJ, another copy of The Monticello's - I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby's Face - Red Cap...shame on me don't think i've bought sod all else...lol Happy collecting - Regards Mark Bicknell.
Guest James Trouble Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 (edited) Jo Jama "My Life", paid $50 including postage around January time I think. What's the best smilie to use for gloating? The Nicky Newarkers Band C/U is probably my most soulful, I'll be playing that out for the first time on Boxing day at the Northern Cowboys thing. Similar style to the Eric Lomax C/U but better, IMO Edited December 20, 2005 by James Trouble

Eddie Kendricks is spun by Keb at Soul Revolution. Great record.
