New Feature On Soul Source - Refosoul - Clip Based Database

as always over time look at how features are going and if can be improved or better ones offered

while using the gallery for sound clips works ok, as it got used more, limitations were appearing, navigation poor, display of titles, no sorting, poor search and so on meant that had a look at another method, while looking sussed out that using this feature can offer a new feature for site.....

A reference database of soul clips, that can offer the following

all clips can be streamed quickly via a pop up intergrated flash player

listing of clips can be sorted by artist, title, date , views etc etc

intergrated with site search

a seperate search function

each clip can have scans, info, links to artists, links to cd availbility, sales past and present links and more posted

each clip can be commented by any member, rated

all members can submit clips (not available till 100% complete)

current state :

due to the potential of this feature, rather than wait till all extras have been finished, its been opened now as it works fine as its main aim : a dynamic reference

content

approx a third or so through adding clips - as updating content there may be a few duplicates, wrong titles, and such. Once all content is present a clean up of any errors will occur

clips

as this is a reference all clips are clips of the tracks and non-downloadable. The aim is to provide a reliable, regularly updated reference and in the near future links to cd availbility on all tracks will be added, along with artist info and links. A main aim will be to encourage legal purchase of soul tracks via various media.

the google bit linked in is a new service launched called google music

not really any use on little known artists, but led me to some good info on likes of stoval sisters etc

# Flash cannot play all types of mp3. The mp3 must be encoded with a constant bitrate (CBR not VBR), support the bitrates listed in the sound properties window and must have a sample rate of 44.1khz, 22.05khz or 11.025khz. Flash will either not play the mp3 or play the sound at incorrect speed and pitch if it is not in the required format.

Would be great if it was easy to be able to post scans and information easily on each track. Maybe post tracks up ourselfs as well Mike. This really is a top feature, can't wait to see it it full swing!

can do the above at moment, though uploads need to be approved

just been tying in the cd stuff - now if the clip is listed via a cd on amazon, yahoo or google audio sections, it displays details of cd and if on amazon can buy it via site

ebay and gemm links been added, popsike links tidied up etc

once thsi bit firm making the

comments, uploads (both scans and clips ) a bit more user friendly, along with work on clips etc etc
