Geordiejohnson
Just been reading a few threads about ebay tricksters, scams or that ebay doesn't do anything when your duped or report miss doings, and i cast my mind back to Mark speakmans site Soulbid. Ive had a few thoughts (unusual for me) but What happened to Soul Bid? If people had got behind it, could it have been an auction site that was run by a soul lover that could have tackled theses issues? could it be that because ebay is now a world wide market place, they are not interested or incacpable of dealing with what to them seem minor irritant questions or grievences but are big for us? Could a specialised auction site be just what our scene needed - need? Geeooooordie Link to comment Social source share

Martint
It's Martin Thomsons site I think. yes it's mine, I've been working on it for quite some time (several years). The original site I did was removed a year or so back and replace with this new one which is much much better. All works great now, but definitely need more people to actually USE it. If any soul sourcers want to give it a go, PM me and when you register I'll set you to preferred seller status which means absolutely zero fees for listings and selling items using any options you like. Otherwise it is currently set for free listings, but there are low fees if an item sells, i.e no sale = no fee. But as I say, any soul sourcers may use it for free, in fact register and PM me before Xmas and I promise you can use it absolutely free forever. Can't really say fairer than that? Martin call it sods law but the moment this thread came up my web host decided to upgrade their server which meant the site was down for half an hour (and right in the middle of at least one regisrtation). Apologies for anyone who was checking it out but this is now done and everything should be fully functional again so please check it out and register. Guest Netspeaky
SOULBID the story. The low down on Soulbid was that after funding it for over 2 years at £350 a month, with no returns other then what I sold myself, if finally hit home that it wasn't going to be a financial success. It was also taking up all my free time and more, updating and managing the site on a daily basis. Even when on holiday I was having to find internet cafes to spend an hour or so updating/managing the site. I tried to get on board UK dealers without much luck. Exception being Mountainboyblue (Joe Dunlop) who put some great 45's on the site. I emailed I don't know how many US ebay listers to try Soulbid, again no takeup. Soulbid was just short of a 1000 registered user on the database went it finished, these where from all over globe. The was some great support from some guys who were regular buyers of items that were listed, bearsoul and geordie to name just a few, just not enough sellers.I tried to get a lower rate, but the guy who provided the apps and the hosting wouldn't move on the price, so common sense had to come into play. I still think the idea was a great idea, it just didn't get the support that was required to make it a long term success. I still own soulbid.com & soulbid.co.uk so if I win the lottery and have time on my hands to run it as a loss leader I most probably go and do it. I will be sending a list out again sometime in new year to my database, and I will also link it here for people who aren't on it. Set sales can be found on www.soulbid.co.uk. Maybe a little out of data as it hasn't been updated in ages, if you see something on there and you think the asking price is to high, make me an offer, like I said I haven't updated in ages, and I can't even remember what's on there at the moment, some most probably have already gone. Thanks for the support from all you did, and the ones who didn't well you missed your chance. Link to comment Social source share
