Stefan Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) Hi, I come just bought my copy of Bobby Sansom "Don't Leave" on Sublime and I need more info about this record. I don't find so much about him, just that It's a "blue-eye" soul group maybe from L.A ? Any addition to this info will be welcome and so much appreciated ... Cheers Stefan. Bobby Sansom is from the UK actually and moved to California (I think bay area, not la). He has (or at least had) a webpage, he does some sort of wedding singing now or something. Apparently Sly Stone really liked the record and started playing it on the radio and totally dropped it when he found out Bobby was White. 1
boba Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 here is his wedding music business: https://americanmobilemusic.com/ I'm assuming this pic is his band in the UK: https://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/vintagehofner/earlybands/band26.html
Stefan Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 So many thanks Boba. What a great information and pics of him and his group ! "Apparently Sly Stone really liked the record and started playing it on the radio and totally dropped it when he found out Bobby was White." It's for me, one of the best male soul harmony that I've heard ... The Quality don't have skin colors ...
boba Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 yeah, excellent midtempo track. i'm not into his other 45 on acta though.

boba Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I think the 3 releases were just a result of shopping it around to bigger labels. I don't think it was any type of hit.
Derek Pearson Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 "Don't Leave" is such a fabulous record indeed, must admit I was quite surprised to discover he was white as well. Above photo is currently on sale on Ebay as Buy It Now. derek
