Ady Croasdell Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 1976 release, I could really do with hearing both sides of this please if anyone has one lurking. Ta Ady
Ady Croasdell Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 Looks like it's gonna be another Dave Hamilton related toughie!
Derek Pearson Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Blimey never heard of a Buddy Lamp 45 on Big Hit before? I know there's no sound clip with this link Ady (sorry) but I've posted it up anyway just for general interest. Seller could have included a better label scan. derek https://collectorsfrenzy.com/Details.aspx?id=280503127257

Premium Stuff Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Hi Ady Remember watching that one go through eBay and deciding to let it go at the time. I thought I took soundfiles and have just checked. Unfortunately by mistake I copied them as DivShare (htm) links - which now don't work - rather than MP3s Sorry couldn't help Richard
Ady Croasdell Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Thanks Richard Help is at hand, a copy resides in the Doncaster region of these fair isles and will be winging its way to me when the lad can delve into his discs
Roburt Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 ............... a copy resides in the Doncaster region of these fair isles ............ A copy would be in the Doncaster area, after all that's God's country & everything wonderful & marvelous can be found there (except decent jobs !!)
jocko Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Is this the same Big Hit as Herbie Thomson etc, it was Johnnie Mae Matthews label wasn't it?
Ady Croasdell Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Tis indeed Jock. I can relate that the Big Hit version of Do It Good is totally different to the Dave Hamilton tape we've got which is earlier 1970ish and more basic funk groove, the 1976 Big Hit version has a storyline lyric. The flip is a totally different song to the ballad coupling we found on the master tapes though both were Dave/Buddy compositions. The 45 is a blues ballad called 'This World Without You', the earlier master is a soul ballad called 'Somebody Is Wrong'. There you have it, the masters will be out on Kent CDs eventually
