Dayo Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 The more I hear it, the more I'm loving Candi Staton's You Got The Love. I'm not sure which mix I've got but it's got gorgeous stax like strings. Actually listened to the words for the first time last night and realised it's pure gospel. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I started to think; this is just as soulful as anything I've ever heard. Just shows that there's still soul in some modern dance music. Anyone agree? Also stumbled on the fame studios site, if anyone's interested here's a link https://www.fame2.com There's a good history of the studios, list of artists who've recorded there and even a rate card. Go to the photo gallery for groovy pics like this one of Lou Rawls. Hope you like it. Colin
Guest ShaneH Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 must be 15 years old that tune now surely? i used to love this being played in my local disco pub when i was about 16 yrs old Shane
Guest Byrney Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 must be 15 years old that tune now surely? i used to love this being played in my local disco pub when i was about 16 yrs old Shane The version that made the charts is the vocal of Candi Staton laid over Frankie Knuckles / Jamie Principles Your Love which is a house music classic. The orginal version of YGTL used to get play's on the Modern scene, sure I heard a few times at Rock City modern nights. Heard a story that the YGTL was originally written for and targeted at a USA wieght watchers group
Reg Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I can remember this being played on the soul/modern scene with the original backing...what year is it from Byrney?
