Danny Woods

You Had Me Fooled C/w My Love Will Never Be The Same

Perhaps only Darrow Fletcher portrays as much pain when he, as Danny Woods churns out on this disc. Wildly emotional delivery of on both sides of this delicious Detroit Double helping of real-deal 60s soul.

Top side has been a Northern Soul classic for decades, remained annoying elusive throughout.

Today it's the flipside that is causing equal interest; a mid-paced Northern Soul stroller dripping with pain, slightly lifted when the soaring girl-chorus comes in fusing everything together. This disc really is a special not only n rarity but also the top-drawer quality both sides bubble over with.

This copy has some ligt surface marks, but plays loud and clear as you will hear from the double-sound-file lifted directly off this disc.

Jones Bros.

Lucky Lady C/w Good Old Days

Lee Silver's 1975 pre-disco Los Angeles session generated two slick rare-soul dancers for the AVI (American Variety International) label. It became a hugely sought-after 45. Then low and behold it was discovered the 45 also had a fleeting British release.

Before you today is a MINT 1975 UK DEMO. Offering the collector it's rarest format and the British collector a real-gem to chase.

Click the sound-file you'll be just as impressed as the colourful label is making you.

Frankie & The Damons

Man From Soul C/w I Hope You Find The Way

Whining horns are the perfect marriage for the gravel-coated lead vocal to bounce off! Carolina's 60s Soul is rarely this gritty or this compelling. As Frankie gets down and dirty, clawing his way through this haunting recording.

The flipside however provides the listener with stereotypical mid-60s sound of Raleigh, North Carolina; a really nice example, but pales completely to the inventiveness of the thoroughly memorable a-side.

Rare in the extreme this copy the vinyl has a few light surface marks, but as you can appreciate from the sound-file provided it plays loud, clean & true

Magnificent Seven

The Groove C/w The Leap Frog

If your serious about collecting Detroit Soul or Motown related vinyl, this offering will have you sitting up!

Perhaps the rarest of all the "signpost" Thelma's this immaculate 45 enjoyed the services of Motown legends, bass player James Jameson & band leader Joe Hunter, with a young Don Davis honing his writing and producing skills.

An essential piece, in the history of Detroit's Soul development - and a 45 that is never witnessed with two flawless labels & vinyl to match.

He Was Really Sayin' Something

Wow, 1964 British Red & White DEMO in totally immaculate condition. Both labels are perfect, both sides of the vinyl only reveal the lightest sleeve contact blemish in strong light. This is a super-clean coy Mint -

Unlike "Dancing In The Street" this 45 was not a hit the first time round in 1964. But as a DEMO & in this peerless condition it is a vinyl-treasure to behold...

Sonny Munro

(tears) Can Only Make The Problems Wet C/w Open The Door To Your Heart

A gathering of former Motown team-mates craft a Michigan Deep Soul masterpiece. Johnny Powers, James Dean, Robert White Paul Riser, J. Glover & Clarence Paul all contribute to this on-your-knees pleading ballad.

A girl chorus soothes the intro, but as Sonny sings alone he delivers a shivering laceration of the heart! On the a-side, in true Detroit style Mr. Munro discharges a fine mid-70s version of the Darrell Banks classic.

NOTE: The Deep Soul experience is only available as the incredibly RARESTOCK copy, another 70s flipside that offers a top-drawer soulful delight only as the release format.

Billy Jones & Solat

You're Gonna Mis Me C/w I'll Be Around

1976 Dutch obscurity starting to cause a stir, because the a-side is right-on-the-money for today's Funkier dance-floor tastes and the flip-side gives the serious sweet soul harmony collector a real rare-un to chase.

Check out the impressive dance side, kicks off with a PMT style dressing down by his partner, a real piece of her mind is served. The indignant Billy warns "do give your man away, cause no-one else could light her fire".

After hearing this persuasive horn riddled dancer you begin to believe, that Billy could certainly ignite passions no-one else could! This is an irresistible dancer-tune full of power, persistence & punch!

Do not overlook the flip which is also a magnificent example of it's genre - flowing harmony vocal-group sweet soul. Two sides not to be passed over.

Stay With Me

A Buddy Turner project, the man who gave us "You're What's Missing In My Life" on Ocean. Teams up with the talented Morris Bailey crafting a 1980 dancer of the highest calibre.

For whatever reason this Polydor 45 is a very tricky disc to secure. It is only our 3rd copy this century, with each time we've offered it it has caused some considerable hustle-bustle on the mouse.

Click the sound file and bathe in a glorious string laden groove that drifts into a gorgeous stroller with the lead singer reaching heights that only an impassioned woman could...truly stirring stuff!

Underbeats

Sweetest Girl In The World

Looking for something quite different, off-the wall and obscure. How about this vocal-group flip-side belting out a fabulous version of Mary Well's Motown classic.

Rarely do any artists record Motown and create a worthwhile experience. But this male take on "Mary" starts with a hammering piano - and you know this is gonna be a bit special..and the vocals do not disappoint, as they capture the Motown sound completely. Even the compulsory sax break, just adds to the authenticity of the recording.

Early 60s Rare and a fine slab of Northern Soul.

Jimmy Fraser

Of Hopes And Dreans And Tombstones

With the intensity of Train whistle before the crossing!! The harmonica blow sets the tone for this remorseless Northern Soul stomper!

From the man who was responsible for work with industry greats like Timi Yuro, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash; Bob Johnston shows off his versatility by writing and producing this uniquely muscular dancefloor destroyer.

A Northern Soul classic vocal & instrumental you just can't tire of hearing or dancing to.

The Duck

In 1967 the British public had the chance to encounter "THE MIRWOODSOUND" Los Angeles's brief attempt to emulate Motown!

This incredibly rare MONO album is the 1967 British release that passed unnoticed even though it held such dance-delights as "Shotgun & The Duck" "Do The Temptation Walk" "Everybody Jerk" etc. James Carmichael & Fred Smith collaborations that would later become the staple diet of the Brit-All-Nite club scene.

In 2012 to hold a flawless copy of an album of this rarity is a vinyl-moment.
