Mal C Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I'll take this if you cease in using John Manship as some sort of carrot to buy, no one in their right mind buys from John Manship, he's way too expensive. Jo Ann Garrett - Just Say When - Chess - M - £7.50 This is a condition of purchase. Mal.C.
Popular Post Flanny Posted March 28, 2012 Popular Post Posted March 28, 2012 I'll take this if you cease in using John Manship as some sort of carrot to buy, no one in their right mind buys from John Manship, he's way too expensive. Jo Ann Garrett - Just Say When - Chess - M - £7.50 This is a condition of purchase. Mal.C. thats a bit of a bold statement! John is one of the most respected dealers I know, ive had tons of bargains of him over the last 30 odd years when you add up the overheads of any business im sure you would find that you pay more for that level of service. there are other dealers that are dearer than John and some that are cheaper all of which have their own canoes to paddle and all seem to be doing well even in a recession so he must be doing something right. so does that mean we are all not in the right frame of mind then ? your statement is an insult to every person whos bought from him over the last several decades 4

Gene-r Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Say what you like, I'm entitled to my opinion... and my statement is called negotiation, I'm interested in the 45..if the seller wants to sell it to me. Well, as much as I know you Mal, I'm also entitled to my opinion - that you're a bully. Who are you to tell ANY seller what their terms of purchase are? I doubt many sellers would be turned on by your method of 'negotiation' - you're not welcome to any more sales I have on here if that's your attitude. I was going to do the right thing and bite my tongue,.......sorry Rod. I'm not trying to be 'moderator' (contrary to some belief); just making a point because this has incensed me. Guest RichEvans Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 ill have the jay griffin plz atb moldie Pmed for this, paid for it, then surprise, surprise a refund & excuses! think he must have read a certain thread after I'd paid!
Modernsoulsucks Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I am now closing this thread as I dont want it to develop into a discussion on John Manship 's approach to record selling. Mal, you are entitled to your opinion which is why I suggested you [or Flanny] open a topic elsewhere. Just not on this sales thread. Gene, I find your reaction somewhat OTT. This IMO is not cyber-bullying but Mal making a point albeit badly. I figured at first that Mal had his tongue in his cheek and must admit am a little surprised at his response to me. I can't see anything particularly contraversial in Mal's comment as I have read similar on here numerous times when reactions to John's auction lists are posted or in responses to wants where someone links to John's site. Let's not pretend that John's prices are not a regular talking point. If anyone has any concerns then please PM me. ROD [forum moderator]
Guest Lam man Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Mal C I'm more than happy to sell you Jo Ann Garrett, but I will decide which sites I use as a price guide, and I will not be dictated to buy anyone. I use Gemm/Pat Brady/Anglo and various others. That way I can gauge the fairest average price that I price the records at. If you are still interested then message me and I will sort this out for you. I can have this in the post tomorrow morning. If you do not like the fact that I used John Manship's site, then you won't buy off me. With reference to another post about "I must have read the thread then withdrew another record", that is rubbish. The record had been sold previously, the money that had been Paypal'd yesterday was refunded immediately. The fact that a lot of people seemed to think that they were getting a 3 figure record for a 10th of the price without anyone querying it at all disappointed me. I could have quite easily said that this was a typing error, but the record had previously been sold without my knowledge. I'm not in the habit of ripping people off and people do not have to buy off me if they do not want, someone else will. Thanks
