Denbo Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I would love to but I think they close down the sites if you put sound clips on, I might be wrong but several that I used to subscribe to have disappeared. Maybe they offered full downloads? I would love to but I think they close down the sites if you put sound clips on, I might be wrong but several that I used to subscribe to have disappeared. Maybe they offered full downloads? How about linking to a site that doesn't close you down, like Soundcloud?
Pete S Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 How about linking to a site that doesn't close you down, like Soundcloud? Soundcloud's f*cking useless, I tried putting a podcast on there earlier this week and they said I had to have copyright for every track!
Denbo Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Thanks Sean - that's exactly what it's meant to be. I shall keep adding to it until I run out of "interesting" ones. And not take the easy option by nicking scans from other peoples records. Except cajun hart Can others suggest or send you details of other UK releases that may be of interest?
Denbo Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Soundcloud's f*cking useless, I tried putting a podcast on there earlier this week and they said I had to have copyright for every track! Oh, sorry, didn't know that? Well, what about linking to some other site for sound files?
Pete S Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 Can others suggest or send you details of other UK releases that may be of interest? Well the thing is, I was just going to try to keep it to records I own, otherwise I could just go on ebay or the internet and nick any photo of a label and pretend I'd got it, but all of the records on at the moment, I have got (or in the case of four or five, sold a few weeks back). I've been offered some lovely scans of rare records but I think it'd be cheating. I dunno...what do you think?

I suppose if you were to strictly stick to your rules people could post scans in this thread. That could potentially detract from the whole point of the blog though.
Pete S Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 If people wanted to put scans here that is fine by me. Absolutely fine. It fits in with the thread and it could be really interesting. I think.

Guest MrC Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 How about attaching a little podcast to each of the articles Pete. I've downloaded your latest reggae podcasts and they're now on my ipod, but it would surely be a good idea to do one as an accompaniment to each of the Blog episodes.
Pete S Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 How about attaching a little podcast to each of the articles Pete. I've downloaded your latest reggae podcasts and they're now on my ipod, but it would surely be a good idea to do one as an accompaniment to each of the Blog episodes. Only problem is that there are only ten or fifteen going up at a time, and the items I put up have probably already appeared on one of my podcasts before. Is that what you meant? I mean, I could do a couple of podcasts which cover all of the reggae etc on the site (95 titles in all) Where would I post them though - mixcloud?
Guest MrC Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I meant more of a little podcast along the lines of the Youtube videos you did, a bit like a radio show of the actual blog, then just as a download option at the foot of the blog itself. Even with 10 - 15 records and the write up/review of each one that would fill between 30 - 60 minutes surely? I'd take even more notice if I could actually listen to it all on the way to and from work, I'd only download the ones of most interest, but on the blogspots you've posted that would be around 90% so far! I get whinged at by Wife if I sit in front of the PC too long when I'm at home, so a quick scan of the blog, then download and listen in peace would be great!

Yes I would love to do that except for one thing - I don't know how to combine the music with any talking. I'd probably have to get a mic, do all the spoken bits somehow (I wouldn't know where and how to start recording off a mic) and then edit the inserts inbetween the music. Sounds like an awful lot of work unfortunately.

Sounds like an awful lot of work unfortunately. It's pretty easy to do (just pug in a mic, make a playlist on your favourite music player, open your sound recording software, set the recording to go through 'mixer' and off you go!) you could do it all in one take, like making a video, but admittedly it would take a bit of planning and then the time to record it. Shame.
