Chas Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Not northern, but Stevie Wonder"just enough to ease the pain"fabulous ballad as good as anything he did(on you tube)whilst there check Little Milton"give me this chance",obviously not Motown but any chance to promote these tracks..you know how it is!
Chris L Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Originals - Suspicion Jimmy Ruffin - He who picks his nose Plus loads more.................... 1
Eddie Hubbard Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Brilliant unissued version of Bobby Taylor .... 2
Carty Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Love Holland and Dozier on the avenue , and the jimmy ruffin vocal, good points made about the quality of the unreleased stuff and the fact that in general i agree the quality control got things right...however there must be a dozen or so that were right up there and prove the exception to this , i know the song has been mentioned several times but Suspicion could go head to head with any other motown record , would find it very hard to definitively pick something better ,boils down to personal choice and taste i suppose . frank wilson, do i love you by the way, never really did it for me . 1

Gilly Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Forgot to mention "No One To Love" (instumental) so simple and sweet
Louise Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 well were do you start her goes kim weston " after the rain " kim weston " build up my baby " supremes" dont let true love die " temps " angel doll " temps " forever in my heart " originals "suspicion " marvelettes " sugars never been as sweet " marvin gaye " lonely lover" marvin gaye" sweet thing " detroit rhythm section " backstreets " martha & vandellas " all that glitters aint gold " r .dean taylor " just like in the movies " temps " that'll be the day " tammi terrell " gotta find a way" holland , dozier " on the avenue " kim weston " absent minded lover " kim weston " any girl in love " kim weston " iv'e got a weak heart " martha & vandellas " keep stepping and never look back " marvelettes " love is good " gladys knight " too late for love " monitors " words " shorty long " a woman cant do right " velvelettes " let love live longer " velvelettes " stop beating around the bush " downbeats " say you love me " kim weston " don't let me down " carolyn crawford " until you came along " brenda holloway " reconsider " temps " you've got too earn it " marvin gaye " gotta say it . gonna tell it " velvelettes " boy from cross town " marvelettes " the other side of town " temps " i'll be satisfied " marvin gaye " hanging on " barbara mc nair " baby ago go " monitors " crying in the night " jimmy ruffin " he who picks a rose " jimmy ruffin " i gotta let you go " j.j. barnes " show me the way " dennis edwards " easier said than done " jimmy ruffin " on the avenue " marvelettes " because i love him " stevie wonder " quality for quantity " just a few too get your taste buds going all top draw hi Steve Great list but didn't The Temps "You Got To Earn It" come out as the flip to " Since I Lost My Baby" on Gordy ? Edward Hamilton claimed that Cornelius Grant ( the songs co-writer ) had offer "You Got To Earn It" to him to record, but Edward refused the offer. Cornelius along with Pistol Allen had taken unoffical leave from Motown to play on Edward's "I'm Gonna Love You" Session Dave 1
purist Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Has anyone yet mentioned ' What More Can A Boy Ask For ? ' I agree with those who say that tunes like ' Suspicion ' / ' Reconsider ' etc could easily have been hits had the Motown machine chosen to promote them. Temptations ' Witchcraft ' is one I wish had made it to 45, so I could have one (can't afford the Temps Emporers of Soul cd set, so don't even have it to listen to in the house ;( 1
Mick Sway Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Been searchin the U - Tube for ages for this one. Overlooked by many on the Spellbound - Lost and Found series,I think its a stunning piece, think "Ordinary Joe" style rhythm: MARTHA & THE VANDELLAS talking about love :
Mickjay33 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) PAUL WILLIAMS SO SOULFULL Edited May 1, 2013 by mickjay33 1
Kev Cane Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Paul Williams Once you had a heart Never heard this before, knocked me for 6, like Ruffin, so soulful, both their lives ended tragically early, when you hear them sing their inner torment is there for all to hear, such is the music we love, it seems, the more tormented, the better the singer Kev
Kev Cane Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 PAUL WILLIAMS SO SOULFULL Seen this clip a million times and it still kicks the shit out of me, solitary viewing and listening only if you don't want to embarrass yourself Kev
