tone5446 Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Seem to remember having a version of Sonny Boy (Al Jolson) by Barbara Banks on MGM, think it was the other side of That night time feeling. Also don't forget the best soul version of an old tune - Porgy and the Monarchs My heart cries for you - wotatune1 Tony

Dave Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 "Wanting You" April Stevens is an old show tune, bloody awful record. True!!! Absolutely horrific! Why has nobody mentioned "Call Me" And why are busty tarts in vogue as avatars?
SteveM Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 True!!! Absolutely horrific! Why has nobody mentioned "Call Me" And why are busty tarts in vogue as avatars? Is an SSCDT thing Dave. Stars of Dollywood apparently (Down to Shane )
SteveM Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Is an SSCDT thing Dave. Stars of Dollywood apparently (Down to Shane ) And speaking of Shane (off topic only briefly) his 'I know a celebrity' statements hit a new low last Friday night, when he said he knew the poor innocent Asian guy beaten up by the Leeds players. To be fair though, Shane did talk to him. He asked him for onion bhajis and salad.

It doesn't look quite like a normal UK Decca 45
Dave Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Steve... surely you mean "allegedly" beaten up by Mr Bowyer and the other young gentlemen? And yes, while we are talking of Shane.... he actually had his own cigarettes on Saturday. Only a packet of 5 Park Drive, mind

BrianB Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I know I've got a version of 'YOu'll Never Walk Alone' by someone but can't remember who as its that memorable. Probably someone crap like Robert Knight (and if it is Bob knight, thank you subconcious) Why is Robert Knight "Crap"? Everlasting Love (copied by Love Affair) - massive at the Wheel Love on a Mountain Top - massive at the Torch Branded - massive at Wigan. He did Somewhere on his LP. Even that was good. You may not like his music, but I think Crap is out of order. We need to respect and revere "our" artists, not disrespect them.
Guest Stuart T Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 You may not like his music, but I think Crap is out of order. We need to respect and revere "our" artists, not disrespect them. Any criticism of their work should be forbidden. Every soul record is good. Dissenters must be purged. Exterminate! Exterminate! I suppose describing someone as crap is a bit over the top, but I'm not into revering people no matter who they are.
Guest Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I know I've got a version of 'YOu'll Never Walk Alone' by someone but can't remember who as its that memorable. B.J Thomas ?
Gert Mark Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Not sure if it qualifies as and old classic but Esther Phillips's version of "Home is where the hatred is" is pure class.
Guest Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Not sure if it qualifies as and old classic but Esther Phillips's version of "Home is where the hatred is" is pure class. I don't know if the Vontastic's version of 'Daytripper' would come under this banner would it?
