Old Town

correct, old town (now can not find the record 45,s all over bedroom floor ect) but did find "will you still love me tomorrow by bunny sigler, who is "you are my sunshine "by as i still can not, find it?

I know I've got a version of 'YOu'll Never Walk Alone' by someone but can't remember who as its that memorable. Probably someone crap like Robert Knight (and if it is Bob knight, thank you subconcious)

Seem to remember having a version of Sonny Boy (Al Jolson) by Barbara Banks on MGM, think it was the other side of That night time feeling. Also don't forget the best soul version of an old tune - Porgy and the Monarchs My heart cries for you - wotatune1

And speaking of Shane (off topic only briefly) his 'I know a celebrity' statements hit a new low last Friday night, when he said he knew the poor innocent Asian guy beaten up by the Leeds players.

To be fair though, Shane did talk to him.

He asked him for onion bhajis and salad. unsure.gif

Out of interest, what country is the record from? It doesn't look quite like a normal UK Decca 45

Why is Robert Knight "Crap"?

Everlasting Love (copied by Love Affair) - massive at the Wheel

Love on a Mountain Top - massive at the Torch

Branded - massive at Wigan.

He did Somewhere on his LP. Even that was good.

You may not like his music, but I think Crap is out of order. We need to respect and revere "our" artists, not disrespect them.

Any criticism of their work should be forbidden. Every soul record is good. Dissenters must be purged. Exterminate! Exterminate!

I suppose describing someone as crap is a bit over the top, but I'm not into revering people no matter who they are.

B.J Thomas ?

Not sure if it qualifies as and old classic but Esther Phillips's version of "Home is where the hatred is" is pure class.

I don't know if the Vontastic's version of 'Daytripper' would come under this banner would it?

Tony Middleton - To The Ends Of The Earth. An old ballad. I heard Nat King Cole's version once in Marks & Spencers in Cardiff. Nice.

Born Free - The Hesitations

Roy hamilton did a nice version of the beatles tune "and i love her" awesome beat ballad

how about

susan rafey hurt so bad

chuck jackson rainy night in georgia

Well Stuart, thats me sleeping soundly tonight knowing you don't revere anyone.

Love to see you or FB standing at the bar next to Robert Knight at Soul Trip USA and not talking to him cos he's crap, or cos you don't revere anyone.

Also:

"As Long As She Needs Me" - Carl Hall (Mercury) - cover of song from "Oliver"

"It's A Sin To Tell A Lie" - Hayward Lee (Scamm) - originally recorded by Fats Waller in 1936

"Till The End Of Time" - The Metros (RCA LP) or Joe Buckman (Sepia) - originally recorded by Perry Como in 1945

"Ling Ting Tong" - Billy Hines (Wa-Tusi) - originaly recorded by the Five Keys in 1954

"Summertime" Tommy Navarro (Urania LP) or Billy Stewart (Chess) - from "Porgy & Bess"
