Simon T Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Another Wigan classic, Anita Harris - The Play Ground
Guest 50box Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Another Wigan classic, Anita Harris - The Play Ground The lonely wind whistles in & out. I think this thread could be merged with the British topic as most of the bizarre sounds are surely UK ? Though I do like 60`s garage northern soundalikes that are something else. Judith Durham - Again & Again. I`d love to see a room at a niter play this stuff be a laugh

Codfromderby Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Yeah it is, but I never heard of it/heard it played anywhere...yet it was on an old emidisc that may be the same emidisc that did the rounds in derby in the early 80,s, only played tongue in cheek like, if want something a bit weired flip over "in a moment" by the intrigues for the "classic" scotsman rock.
Soulsmith Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 What happened to the Cleveland Robinson track Col? No idea, Here it is again, plus bonus Andy Williams stomper
Guest 50box Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 That Loch Lomond thing has done my head in gotta be the winner so far. How do you put these files up on site?
Craig W Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 my mate used to collect records with the same backing track, and there are 8 we know of with frankie/classicals or laura green backing track, try getting a "new world" on abc, its a diferent recording and a lot worse Just dug the ABC version out of The New world and you're right it is nothing like the Bang version its still credited to Teddy Vann & totally the opposite , in fact it sounds a bit like Groving with Mr Bloe. Some great saxaphone playing in it mind.Very strange.
Codfromderby Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 No idea, Here it is again, plus bonus Andy Williams stomper loch lomond Awesome!!! it knocks my secret love by mike jones for six, is it a 45?
Paul R Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Another Wigan instrumental stomper from 1975. Anyone remember this and who's it by? Unfortuately I remember that it is The Glitter Band and it's called "Makes You Blind" and was the B side of opne of their hits(Angel Face?). Rather ironic. perhaps it should now be called "Gets You Shot" Paul

Simsy Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Think we should pick 6 best of the worst and six pack them in gallery sounds for a gas. Something a little different as it were. I secretly like Soulsmith's Cleveland Robinson track.
Guest in town Mikey Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Most frightening Northern sound I've ever heard was at Sunderland when a lad said 'Are you a fookin wurzel', seconds before the whole pub tipped up.
Simsy Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) Most frightening Northern sound I've ever heard was at Sunderland when a lad said 'Are you a fookin wurzel', seconds before the whole pub tipped up. That's awfully good, but not quite what we're looking for . Unless he sang it to you (in a soulful voice) and you have an mp3 of it? Edited December 15, 2005 by Simsy
Guest in town Mikey Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 That's awfully good, but quite what we're looking for . Unless he sang it to you (in a soulful voice) and you have an mp3 of it? Fortunately it wasnt me he said it to. I dont have an MP3 of the actual event, but could lay my hans on one of Hazel O'connor covering - I love the sound of breaking glass. That just about covers it.
Guest 50box Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Edit Dead end street sounds like a Lundun sound.
Guest 50box Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I apply to join the Bizarre DJ roster. Here is the fastest northern sound ever, nothing comes close. The only reason this wasn`t played is we just never got good enough at dancing. Great break & soulful fade

Guest Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 i remember a rather bizzare/crap sound , Keith - Daylight Savin' Time' ,all ways reminded me of the Coronation Street theme
Paul R Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I've just go the CD "Twisted Wheel Forever". I had frogotten just how bad "Kick That Little Foot Sally Anne" was. The problem is it is one of those tracks I can't stop singing to my self now. Paul
