Gene-r Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) After my question regarding a UK recording of "I Can't Take No More" by Ted Wilson (given that it was written by Les Reed and Barry Mason), I've just found the following clip. The data I've managed to find on it so far is: JASON CORD & THE FIRST CHAPTER: "I Can't Take No More Of Your Lies (Les Reed, Barry Mason) Chapter 1 (CH 102). Released 14 June 1968 (B-side to "I've Got My Eyes On You"). Could this be the original? Edited March 16, 2012 by Gene-R 1

See the producer, he was a member of Teardrop Explodes - so I thought, except the Teardrop Explodes guy was born in 1958 so he would have done this one when he was 10 years old.
Gene-r Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 And here's the man himself...... Image not available
Pete S Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 And here's the man himself...... Image not available That guy was from Wolverhampton, I'm sure I read recently he was in a band and went solo, the Montanas or something like that
Dave Pinch Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 great detective work..its something i always wonderered also..the flip of ted wilson my aim is to please sounds like its gonna break into goodbye my love by the searchers to my ears too
Gene-r Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) Strange how the UK Jason Cord issue states the publishers as being Donna Music, yet the Ted Wilson lists the publishers as Leo Feist Music. That said, just seen that Jason Cord was also given a US release on Chapter 1 (45-2901). Publisher also listed as Leo Feist Music on that one too. Edited March 16, 2012 by Gene-R
Wiggyflat Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I've had the Jason Cord in my pop collection for donkeys..Only ever played the Eyes side which is a dramatic orchestrated ballad....came out on the light green label.....I'm sure someone on RCA did it as well.
Soul-slider Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 There's a UK copy on 'MusicStack' for £6.30, the seller had 2 copies, I've just bought one.

Soul-slider Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Certainly cheaper than I thought they'd be on UK Pete! There's no UK copies on ebay (a couple of US). It may go higher now its been exposed. More MOD than Northern though.
