has any one had a story like this

a few months ago i came across a copy of, paris blues - tony middleton - canadian polydor , vg++ for $30 dollars , so with out being too keen so not to make him think about what he had , the other side was advertised, as the a side , i asked him if it was still available , he emailed me a couple of days later , and said it was and it was $38.00 in total , as you might know i payed for it pretty sharpish , i then got a email saying thanks for the cash and he will ship the next day, great me thinks sorted, so when i got a email from him saying it was shipped i was well chuffed , 2 days later to my amazement i got a email off him saying that he was sorry but he broke the record on the train taking it to the post office ? so he refunded my cash , i was that gutted i didnt even get back to him to all him all the c**nts under the sun , i still think about it 6 months later,

anyone had a tale like this ,

Thanks Eddy

Me, got a Barry St John - everything I touch turns to tears - dead cheap off Ebay, something like £22, bloke then tells me it's got a crack in it that he hadn't noticed previously, this is despite him putting a scan and a sound file of it up! If I could remember seller name I'd print it.

don't think ripped off because he sent the money back, could be a case of suddenly finding out what it was worth. If it was broken on the train that's one less in the pot and he's a bit of a frank spencer

maybe they found out how much they were really worth ? could that be possible ?

ooops ! you got in before me , would you know if they put them ups for sale again ?

No disputing that - he wouldn't sell it me because I got it too heap, simple as that.

Seller was in Devon or Cornwall...really got my back up

A couple of years ago I won a mint copy of Ronnie Savoy - Big Hand, Little Hand on eBay, for about $20 when I would have expected it to fetch at least 3 time as much. Sent payment straightaway. Next day the seller sent a refund, saying very sorry but he couldn't find the record!

I think the broke-on-train story sounds plausible by comparison.

Also, I could imagine your seller sending a 'dispatched' email just before heading off to the post office, but if he was planning to say it got broke, why bother to do that - he could just have written that it was broken, . Maybe he was telling the truth? Better giving him the benefit of the doubt than have it gnawing away at you, I think.

I sold a 45 to a guy in California a few years ago via an e-bay auction. When I went to package said record I couldn't find the b*****d!! To cut a long story short I gave him the address of the record dealer/shop I originally bought it from as they had a copy left. Turns out the shop was a 10 minute drive from his house. So a happy ending for everyone involved - and he got the record for 1/2 what he 'won' it for on E-bay.

best,

Dave
