Guest brummiemick Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Following a link on another thread, I came across a group from Girona, Catalonia called The Pepper Pots. They are very much in the mould of a Supremes style front three with a backing group and I believe the main guy is also the singer songwriter. I know there a lot of groups covering old soul classics but wondered whether there are many other 60's Soul Revivalist groups in Europe or the USA writing and recording their own stuff? Does anyone know anything about this area? Any recommendations?

The Timmion guys have their stuff down well, and have put out tracks with older singers (like willie west) but with their background. I haven't seen new vocals groups though, it's a lost art.

Ljblanken Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 there is a band from Santa Cruz, California called the Inciters. they've recorded a number of records over the years. I believe they took a break for awhile, but have been touring/playing heavily over the last year. They have drums, two guitars, bass, trumpet, tenor sax, barry sax, trombone, and three female singers. they do "he ain't no angel", "i'm coming home", "i'm a good woman" and many more. they also have a load of originals. they are really tight and entertaining!
Roburt Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 The Inciters backed up Brenda Holloway on a show in Long Beach (sorted by Nancy Yahiro) back in 1998 when we ran the US Soul Trip to Vegas. They did their own spot on the night & then came along a few nights later (to watch proceddings) at our own dedicated soul night back in Vegas (when we had Lou Ragland, the Platters' Sonny Turner, Way Out's Joan Biaz, Sonny Charles & the Checkmates Ltd, Dazz Band's / Kool & Gangs Skip Martin & quite a few more perform for us).
