Supercorsa Posted March 12, 2012 Share Posted March 12, 2012 Just a quick question concerning The Belles - Don't Pretend - Mirwood, has this got a common pressing fault? A couple of years or so ago I bought a copy of this off ebay for a little over £20. Anyway it was visually graded as near mint and to be honest I agree with that. As I'm sure most of you would if you were to see it. Anyway I digress, for the 1st 40 seconds it has an annoying background noise/distortion going on, then bam, loud and clear!? I've tried cleaning it and makes no difference, just bugs me that's all, so I got to wondering if it was a pressing fault. So again, has anyone else had a copy with this problem? Millo Posted March 13, 2012 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I had something similarwhen trying out the last record that I bought. It was visually a mint copy supposed to be store stock but I cleaned it anyway and it was no different. Checked the tone arm to see if it was balanced an somehow it had got moved and I was trying to play at .75 gram. Dont know how the counter balance moves but it seems to from time to time.
