Guest ENSoul Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) Hey, looking for a copy of the cheap pow wow version on SPEAR, if anyone got a copy please PM with offers. Cheers! Jose Edited March 8, 2012 by ENSoul
pikeys dog Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 You might as well buy a legitimate reissue on Jazzman. The Spear copy is a bootleg.

As far as I'm aware Jazzman pay royalties on their reissues They are reissues - one step above a bootleg - one below an original https://www.juno.co.uk/artists/Manny+Corchado/

Windlesoul Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) The jazzman is a reissue but has the tedious 'pre-intro' bit. The Spear one (retitled, omits the drawn-out intro, renamed and pitched up a tad?) was the (pittsburg?) US 'boot' by radio jock apparently in the early 70s. Think I also heard there's now a recent belgian boot of the Spear one too, not sure how true this is though or if the 70's ones have just turned up in bulk. I've got one of each, but not Manny C's LP unfortunately! Edited March 8, 2012 by mark w.
Mace Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Pow Wow was booted as The Fly due to it being a massive record for Pittsburgh Club DJ Mad Mike. A certain Belgium dealer found a large quantity of unplayed stock a few years ago (presumably in Pittsburgh), and these have been trickling out ever since....which has probably led speculation to a fresh boot being produced. Worth no more than £30 max imo. Some copies of the boot sold for silly money before loads turned up, though I saw this one listed on ebay the other week for $149.99 buy it now........no surprise it never sold then.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/MAD-MIKE-MONSTER-MOSQUITOES-MANNY-CORCHADO-POW-WOW-SPANISH-FLY-LATIN-BOOGALOO-/310381808168?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4844328a28
Guest Big Jim Slade Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) https://www.ebay.com/...8#ht_918wt_1344 My mistake, originally read the listing as $14.99 which I thought was a steal but still within reason if the dealer had them in bulk, the $149.99 price is a bit silly. My mistake, I thought this was a $40 +/- record. Best of luck! Big Jim Slade Edited March 10, 2012 by Big Jim Slade
tio juan Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 quite easy to understand that this boot doesnt cost $ 150! I just wondering - in the same way- how many could understand that the original doesnt cost $ 800 https://www.popsike.com/MANNY-CORCHADO-Pow-Wow-M-cond-LATIN-northern-soul-HEAR-boogaloo-FUNK-orig-45/370581851129.html

He had at least 100 copies in the pile I saw.
