Yes, it was reissued. Only seen scans of it so don't know what the differences in vinyl etc are. Original reads "Ladybird Music" on the right hand side, reissue reads "Millbrand music". Millbrand Music is Paul Mooney's company. Therefore I assume it's a legal reissue not a boot.

That's a recent reissue (from this year?) and it's 100% legal I would imagine?

Wasn't booted back in the day I don't think?

It got an early Capitol UK issue before the bootleggers got hold of it!

Was World Column 'So Is The Sun' on Tower ever booted and if so how can you tell ?

Thanks, Mike

Hello Mike,

I don't think it was ever bootlegged, probably because - as Seve said - EMI issued it in the UK pretty fast (February 1976).

But I'm sure I've seen different pressing plant variations with slightly different labels. Maybe one was for the west coast and another (or others) for different regions.

The recent one-sided UK "repro" issue is also legitimate. It was about to be bootlegged so I issued a license. Personally I'm not keen on repro style reissues so I'll stick to my UK promo. Doesn't anyone collect UK 45s anymore?

Also nice that the track was featured in the Soulboy film last year.

Pop in for a chat when you get time.

...and don't forget 'Trans-Global Express' by The Jam.

Thanks all. Knew about the recent re-issue and sort of figured as Steve P said, the UK release must of nipped the bootleggers in bud with its prompt release back in the day .

However, I have it on Tower for the Deep b side ( one of Steve P's favourites!!) but now it has reached the dizzy heights of a Manship auction I didn't want to find myself chasing a replacement for silly money!

Hi Mike

The B side is indeed one of me all time fave Deep Soul tracks and a record that got me into Deep Soul after buying it on UK whilst still at school (probably in Feb '76, thanks Paul!) for 'So is the sun' as I always played me B sides even back then. Did the same with Linda Jones on UK WB and my love affair with her began then too

I've seen issues and demos on Tower - will bob over and look at the one JM is auctioning out of interest!

Cheers

Steve
