JOE TORQUAY Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Jimmy Cliff Call On Me + 3 1966 4 track French EP with a typically grand and unique laminated picture cover which always alerts the senses. The value lies in Jimmy's very fine version of the Bobby Bland - Duke classic "Call On Me" - release in the UK on Fontana 641 - but most elusive and of course there's not alluring Picture Cover. Cover is immaculate, original "grease proof" inner sleeve still intact, labels are perfect. Vinyl has some light surface marks but that high fidelity French vinyl gives up superb sound, listen To the sound file lifted directly off this rare disc. Extra track recorded is the hipshakin' "I Got A Feeling" Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 22.00 Beverly Ann He's Coming Home The ravishing RCA maiden with the first of her two of her Northern Soul classics. This copy is not only pristine, flawless in every way - it also has the incredibly RARE bonus, of the promo picture postcard with the gorgeous Beverley Ann sporting rather tight jumper and flowing blond hair. Which no doubt you've drooled over for the last 3 weeks... So today, view the flip side of the postcard which also promotes her next release. "You've Got You Mind (On Other Things) + a message from Beverly Ann which reads. Hi! Thanks For playing "He's Coming Home"! Beverly Ann with a note: to watch for Beverly Ann featured as "The Kid Sister" in the TVcolor film "Good Morning Freedom!" listing her appearances in various TVcommercials. The record is so classic it doesn't require any comment, the lady herself is a stunner - the postcard brings everything together into the "must-own" calibre as it spills over with Northern Soul history & trivia. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 125.00 Stewart A. Brown Don't Call Me This is the late Stewart A. Brown of BLUESOLOGY fame. His work with Elton John has made this 45 and infinite British rarity. With the A-side "I Can't Go On Living Without You" written by the pairing of Elton John & Bernie Tauplin. But for Northern Soul fas it's the Stewart A. Brown composition on the flip that;s causing a stir. It is after-all the "Cajun Hart" cover-up! Completely elusive British release the Elton John connection & it being a B-side all ensured this little critter would only emerge on the Northern Soul scene long after its 1969 birth. Feel-good UK Northern Soul of this quality is seldom discovered these days. And a record that is massively in-demand within the British NS collectors &worldwide demand as an Elton John rarity! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 134.00 Timebox Beggin' A MOD anthem and dare we say the most-covet take on the Four Seasons classic. Huge demand and a little elusiveness is why this Michael Aldred creation is on these pages today - let's face it if we listed this set sale - on any afternoon by the morning GEMM, MUSICSTACK and all the other sites that track our listings, would give us an avalanche of orders - there is just one copy - still in it's original company jacket all in sublime condition. We'll let the best MOD win. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 61.00
JOE TORQUAY Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Hit Pack Never Say No To Your Baby Written and produced by Robert Staunton & Robert Walker is perhaps the reason this tune sounds nothing like 1965 Motown. The company drifted away from those compelling commercial creations of Smokey and the H-D-H trio etc. to release this non-seller. This is solid proper, moody Northern Soul, littered with echoing girls haunting the brass crammed backing track, with Earl Van Dyke plonkin' piano notes evident throughout. Highlighted by a lead vocal unlike most-Motown offerings of the year carries and angry ingredient that fuses the whole session together. Before you today is a blinding near perfect copy of TMG 513...dog-rare and so very seldom offered in this condition, the only condition that the discerningTMG collector accepts. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 97.00 Hitsville U.s.a. Volume 1 - Edition 5 28 page Tamla Motown Appreciation Society fanzine for May 1965. You would think by 1965 Tamla Motown fan base would have reached the levels of "General Public" appreciation. But close inspection of Dave Godin's monthly fanzine unviels the Motown Society frustration at the lack of British support for Motown, in a short angry letter about the labels poorly attended show in Leeds. It is grassroots writings of this type that ensure history is not distorted. So it seems, it was not until 1966 with the 4 Tops, Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Isley Brothers chart impact that Tamla Motown really took off in Britain. This addition highlights iconic artists like Kim Weston and a thought provoking full page ad revealing the Four Tops May UK tour to promote "I Can't Help Myself" Dave Godin requests all members to cut out and send him all local newspaper cuttings that mention anything about the Motown phenomena. A fabulous center page spread and editorial on the Supremes, Doris Troy article as Dave ensures not ony Motown is featured, as he championsSOUL. Dear Swingers and friends - this edition showcases Motown on the very cusp of British full appreciation. Priceless... Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 24.00 Lee Moses Time And Place Original New Jersey 1968 press - sublime condition vinyl just a couple of very minor surface blemishes other MInt -. Cover still retains the original shrink wrap and is perfect. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 57.00 Lad Teens Keep On Rollin' C/w White Rice So very reminiscent of the ridiculously valuable - Devotions - Do Do De Dop - on Nation. This rarity also spills over with all the same ingredients; wailing high-pitched carefree harmony vocals riding a sax-driven 60s dance production. Primitively marvelous Northern Soul drenched in feel-good street-corner inspired fun. Total and very elusive Northern Soul who's value can only go one way. If that wasn't enough, the flipside is a raging rampant instrumental, a relentless enforcer of dance floor disturbance. A double dancefloor destroyer! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 159.00
