Bagasulph Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 OK. I've got the Joneses 'Summer Groove' 12", the GD/Glen Dorsey 'Movin On' 45, but I recently saw another version on 45, I think by the Joneses again. Can anyone confirm this? And maybe tell me where the hell I saw it!? Or sell me a copy. Or something.
Guest OskarB Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 There is a 45 version by the joneses on Posse. I have it on a mix on my webpage, www.soulville.se/ljud/soulvillemix.rm, starts at about 27 minutes. Sounds very similar to GD & the big J version on Good if you ask me.

Guest Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 It got a UK release too on Champagne (I think it was). As far as I'm aware all the versions are the same. Great record.

The Joneses 12" is quite different from the 45, which is as said above, similar, but not exactly the same as the GD version. But yes, great record.
Guest OskarB Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I'd might consider parting with mine if i get hold of a GooD 45.

Guest Adrian Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 (edited) Never really compared the versions (and don't have the energy to do it now either), are there any noticable diffrences between them? Well I have just listened to the online mix and then my 45 of GD & Big J, I think that its a different male vocal. Maybe the pc just sounds different? and its late and i had a beer watching football, but i think so. Edited December 6, 2005 by Adrian

Maybe the pc just sounds different? and its late and i had a beer watching football, but i think so. I was being super stoopid.....didn't realise there was a soundclip!!! The Posse version by the Joneses is a different vocal and slightly different phrasing etc, the backing sounds very similar if not the same as you said Adrian John
Bagasulph Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 The backing track on the GD, and the Posse is definitely the same. Slightly different vocally though. The Joneses 12" is, er, longer, and again, different vocal... https://www.milliondollardisco.com/audio/joneses.mp3 What year is that Posse 45 from?
