Prophonics 2029 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Thought stuff like this was just down to different stampers.
Cheltsoulnights Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 it was definetly reissued. you could buy it in the shops in the early eighties? I cant find my jm uk label book. Come on Smithy where are you when needed?
Prophonics 2029 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I have and had duplicate copys of a lot of Columbia stuff and the matrix varies but not disputing your statment Mr CSN.
Steve Edgar Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 my issue ends "2c" and I beleive it's a first issue as on the label the matrix number "DR 41266" is upside down above the Deram issue number DM146, thought the re-issues had the matrix number the right way round on the label (if that makes sense?) steve
Prophonics 2029 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) I have R-41373-TI-2C and Dr over DM149 right way up also a 2D . at 9 oclock to the matrix. Also dates on a different side and it has an R next to Deram Edited March 5, 2012 by Prophonics 2029
Cheltsoulnights Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 sorted. My demo is a first issue with upside down numbers (well pleased) and i already knew i had the issue as a current release from the eighties.

I'm amazed it went to a second pressing in 1967 as it hardly sold anything. The brown on the label is way lighter on the reissue incidentally. * there may be a few anomilies with deram as I just sold an original Quik - Berts Apple Crumble, I know it's an original, it's got the proper stamper number, yet the small matrix on the label is the right way up, never seen one like this. Cheltsoulnights Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 the reissue is definetly much later. I bought a few in my local record shops clearance box
Pete S Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 the reissue is definetly much later. I bought a few in my local record shops clearance box Yeah the reissue came out in 1977. But the poster said he had one with an inverted matrix on the label AND the stamper ending in "2" which is mystifying.
Prophonics 2029 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Yeah the reissue came out in 1977. But the poster said he had one with an inverted matrix on the label AND the stamper ending in "2" which is mystifying. Are they from the same stamper Pete or different cuts.
Pete S Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Are they from the same stamper Pete or different cuts. Well it's definitely the same recording. But something with that 2 prefix was pressed in the 70's. Weird.
Prophonics 2029 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Cheers Pete thought I had an original, then theres the other version.
Steve Edgar Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Yeah the reissue came out in 1977. Pete, here's a scan of mine, it's got the "inverted" matrix, but the stamp on the disc ends with T1-2C. So are you saying this is a 70's press? steve
