Guest Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) U.S radio station jingle for the "Wide Tracking Pontiac" 33rpm Black Ship to Hell - Johnny Adams Band Edited January 2, 2012 by Guest
Guest turntableterra Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 these are the original versions of "BREAKAWAY" by steve karmen and the reason for its conception " breakaway in the new pontiac". i have had a copy of this for about 15 years. it came with a brochure with all the details of the new pontiac released that year.i read in an article somewhere that it was sent to radio stations and coped with a variety of shows such as classical, folk, jazz and rock music. there is a different style of "BREAKAWAY" for each show. imagine a bosa nova BREAKAWAY........It is interesting to hear it in classical too, over the recording, the station dj would read out the shpiel in the brochure. i just assumed it was the steve karmen session group that did the music, is johnny adams the original steve karmen band?????????????????????
Benji Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) is johnny adams the original steve karmen band????????????????????? "black ship from hell" was the cover up title used back in the 70s, Johnny Adams might have been the cover up artist? Edited January 3, 2012 by Benji
Guest turntableterra Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "black ship from hell" was the cover up title used back in the 70s, Johnny Adams might have been the cover up artist? GREAT TITLE FOR A TUNE
Guest Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 "black ship from hell" was the cover up title used back in the 70s, Johnny Adams might have been the cover up artist? It was Levine`s cover up. Nothing to do with Johnny Adams but great imagination

Roburt Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Originally released on Dakar by SJQ, no doubt the 'Major' also recorded it back then ...... .. but it escaped later via the deal that Contempo did with the 'Chicago Soul Label Team'. Here it is NOT on Contempo but on a Euro issue ........
