Derek Pearson Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Here's a rather nice French Vogue copy of Shirley's rather fine "Because I love you" complete with a pretty funky sleeve. It's quite a while since I last played this 45 so I stuck it on the old Technics before uploading these scans. Don't know whether the sun's gone to mi head or not but it sounded slightly different to the Calla 45 as I remember it? A touch slower and a much louder recording. Will dig the Calla 45 out to compare.... derek x
John Benson Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I suppose it's about time I added a few to this - although I have put quite a few up before on other threads. Anyone know how to link your own pictures that's already on the site to this thread? The only way I've managed to do it before was to find the original post and link the picture from there - but that's got to be the hard way, there must be an easier way other than uploading them again? Most of them are my own copies, but one or two are just scans 'lifted' from elsewhere: A few from New Zealand: Italy: Chile: France: Jamaica: Canada: Holland: Spain: More later on... 1

Northern Soul Uk Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) I know this version isn't the best, but just got this through the post purchased for £2 + £1.50 p&p. Nice label, anyone seen anything on this before? Australian Decca Also just noticed that on the original 'Decca' sleeve that came with the record there is an address of the record store that I imagine the record spent some of it's time. The address and record store are; Rhythm Rendezvous Hunters Corner, Papatoetoe, PH: POP 87-698 And Broadway, Newmarket, PH 544-738 Anyone any idea where that is?? Edited July 8, 2011 by steveLuigi
Gene-r Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) And here are some bits from my collection. The Earl Grant is from Hong Kong, and the rest are from New Zealand. Edited July 8, 2011 by Gene-R

Kelboy Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Found this in an Italian antique book shop last week, not a major find i know but what struck me as odd is the fact that its backed with 'Jennifer ' - By Donovan ??
Pete S Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Found this in an Italian antique book shop last week, not a major find i know but what struck me as odd is the fact that its backed with 'Jennifer ' - By Donovan ?? Yeah you'll find that many Italian jukebox promos have a different artist on each side, often bearing no resemblence to one another.
Benji Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Rare german picture sleeve... (and as it happens I have a spare for sale:

Not only a promotional copy ( " Vietata la Vendita " ) but a mis -spelling of Mr Stewart's surname on the song credits . Malc

This is the standard New Zealand Decca label, not Australia. Rhythm Rendezvous is still open in Papatoetoe but the Newmarket location is long gone. They used to be a Instrument & Record store but now are just Instruments.
Benji Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Germany Same backing as 'Come see about me' but different lyrics - in German! Rob, it is sung in german but you have a dutch issue, not a german. First issue was german CBS.
Rob Moss Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Rob, it is sung in german but you have a dutch issue, not a german. First issue was german CBS. I know - I have both!
Rob Moss Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Apologies - this is the German release. The other one is Dutch.
45cellar Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 AUSTRALIA Arrived this morning, Interesting to see Parkway being used. In other countries more used to seeing Cameo-Parkway Logo or Columbia etc.
Kris Holmes Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 New Zealand had Parkway (sans-Cameo) stuff too.
45cellar Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Thanks Mate, so that's Australia, New Zealand then outside U.S.A. & Canada the only other I think I've seen was a release in Japan using the Parkway Logo. It had one of those nice thin Tri-Centres if memory serves.
