The white demo is Italian and the blue issue Spanish. Both released in 1978, hardly the peak of the Mediterranean Northern Soul scene, anybody know how these got to be issued at that time ? There were 60s Italian Cameo releases but there doesn't appear to have been any in Spain.

They tie in with the 1978 UK reissue of YJDK. So technically some sort of original-issue-but-also-reissue-due-to-Norther-Soul-demand-in-another-country.

I have a similar one. Willie Mitchell - The champion on german London from the late 70s. Wish they had dropped it and reissued Chubby Checker instead.

Wasn't aware that there was a NS scene in Spain and Italy in 1978. I assumed it was down to some TV program or film that got their release but the UK 1978 re-release also makes sense. Was it issued anywhere else ? Canada, France or Japan ?

What I tried to say was, they issued it in the UK due to demand from the Northern scene. And obviously while they were at it issued it in other countries as well. Even though there wasn't any scene in those countries.

Nice cover. It's a 70s release. Ties in with the other european releases when they issued in the UK in 1976 due to Northern demand. Also came out in germany in 76 or 77, although that sleeve isn't half as nice.

the two tamla motown 45s tie in with the uk issues from 1970

Which would make the Edwin Starr a first issue but the Contours a re-issue as both sides of that 45 were separate releases in their own right previously.  :)

thats right john "purse" issued in 65 and "missunderstanding" issued in 66 in the usa and uk as seperate 45s...this copy was out at the same time (ish) early 1970 as the uk reissue of both tracks done for the fledgling soul scene...but then issued in other countries...but not neccessarily because there was any kind of scene goin on there

Loads more Aussie, assorted everything... Its a shame Bettye Swann is the release without  'I'm Lonely for you' on the flip, its the other one.. Richard Searling played the Laura Lee on his show recently, well pleased with that, awesome track...

Got that myself. Good quality vinyl rather than styrene. Nice classy tune as we all know.
