Guest Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 Wow! Latin Disco? Didn't think I would ever approve but I damn well do! I've nearly wobbled my head off to this track Is there no end to this mans talent? From Young Gifted and Brown, to the mesmerising swaying hips of his Gypsy Woman to the wacka wacka wacka guitar of I'm Satisfied I'm gonna catch this bloke at the Jazz Cafe... anyone else going?

Think i have a version of "Under The Streetlamp".you know the Exits Gemini release, by Mr Bataan, plus something called "Uptown" ?...sorry doing this from memory, i know he did a bit of time for running with hard core street gangs in the 60's. Guest Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 (edited) Yes, I also listened to their Streetlamp song but wasn't wholly impressed Brett It was written by his friend apparently Edited December 3, 2005 by Soulgirl
Guest Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 Yes, I also listened to their Streetlamp song but wasn't wholly impressed Brett It was written by his friend apparently I have both , but lean towards Joe Bataans version, horses for courses i guess, taste is so subjective, your not wrong Karen and i'm not right. Guest Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 I didn't mean in comparison to other version of Streetlamp... just not in Bataans collection Give me Gypsy Woman every time
Guest Codfromderby Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 I didn't mean in comparison to other version of Streetlamp... just not in Bataans collection Give me Gypsy Woman every time he also did a strange version of more today than yesterday and crystal blue persuasion, but check out latin strut and after shower funk for wah wah heaven!! plus a track called If i were king that appeared in soul packs in the 70,s, still got my copy but cant decide after about 30 years if its brilliant or rubbish if you know what i mean still reckon there is un-discovered stuff by him lying around somwhere
Guest Richard Bergman Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Joe Bataan has a tremendous back catalogue, Most 60's and early 70's of Bataan's are dirt cheap and easy to pick up and well worth it......always hidden gems to be found.... My personal fave has always been "special girl" ....
