Guest brickiesondecks Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Hi,, following on from an earlier thread where I said I sold a record and the customer returned it claiming it to be a Styrene repress/boot, I wanted to get a second opinion on the record I believed to be original,, so here are a few photos of the 45 in question. Believe me it's not easy trying to take a photo of a Nashville Matrix stamp !!! If Pete S is out there I'd appreciate his input,,Thanks
Guest brickiesondecks Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 This is the original thread from last week,,Thanks
Pete S Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Hi,, following on from an earlier thread where I said I sold a record and the customer returned it claiming it to be a Styrene repress/boot, I wanted to get a second opinion on the record I believed to be original,, so here are a few photos of the 45 in question. Believe me it's not easy trying to take a photo of a Nashville Matrix stamp !!! If Pete S is out there I'd appreciate his input,,Thanks Can't see a lot with those photos, you need to put the cameras macro function on, it's usually a logo like a flower, this'll enable you to do really good close up shots. Looks like a vinyl copy to me though and if that writing says nashville matrix, it is original.
Guest brickiesondecks Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Thats about as macro as it gets on my camera Pete,, but it says 'Nashville Matrix' both sides for sure.

Kris Holmes Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 in my experience with other Spar/Hit 45s, the Nashville Matrix stamp can appear very wonky on them, if it is vinyl or styrene with the molded label (not just glued on) then it's probably an original. tough to say without actually holding the 45 in my hands though.
Only Dreaming Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I have had the styrene monarch boot a few times over the years and they all jumped during the intro before he starts singing. I always thought that whoever made the boots (SS? ) used a warped original copy . Best, Dave
Pete S Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) I have had the styrene monarch boot a few times over the years and they all jumped during the intro before he starts singing. I always thought that whoever made the boots (SS? ) used a warped original copy . Best, Dave Just unlucky Dave, never had one that jumped, BUT I know what you mean because I had loads of Tobi Legend pressings on Eric that jumped on the line "I'm just a pe...and I sit and wonder why", when played on a different deck, they didn't jump! Only Dreaming Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Thanks for clearing that up Pete. After reading your post it makes sense that you could easily have had a 'bad run' from the pressing plant that no-one would necessarily be aware of. best, Dave

Only Dreaming Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 That's worse than the original problem. In the eighties a mate of mine had a copy of Bob Relf's 'blowing my mind to pieces 'that jumped just near the end.He put it on a tape for me and I listened to it for umpteen years. Now whenever I hear a normal copy it doesn't make sense? Take care, Dave Trouble is, every time I hear it, I expect it to jump and it's weird when it doesn't
