Guest allnightandy Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 There was a time at Wigan where many top sounds started to appear in the record room all were brand new and being sold as originals they seemed to appear in batches of about five or six titles then the week after several others would appear It was rumoured at the time they were comming from susan there was even the odd DJ involved,in selling them then after a couple of months the same records appeared in the same batches upstairs in Russ's record hut for a quid but these records were of an inferior quality IIE bubbly label slightly different colouring on the labels etc a few of the obvious ones were Joe Hicks Dont it make you feel funky The Flirtations Stronger than her love Kenny Smith Oh lord whats happening to your people (Both Labels) Velvet Satins Nothing can compaire to you Mel Britt She'll come running back Lou Pride I'm Cumm'in home in the mornin there were quite a few others as well
Pete S Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I think I raised a topic about the vinyl Mel britt's a few years ago when I got one. It was the copy leaked out as an original before the styrene pressing. Matrix stamp is the same, slightly wonky. Andy a few weeks back there was a topic about those bootlegs coming via Russ's record lists, I remembered it distinctly because it was my last day of school when I got the list.
Pete S Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Found the original thread about Mel Britt with moulded label

Quite possible , the thing is we move in a "northern soul circle" so eventually things will come back round ! and as we get older the memory isn't the same If you can remember the post let me know i'll have a read ! And probably realise that i posted on it LoL Cheers Andy Sorry mate i thought you said a few weeks ago i wasn't her when you had that discussion But you are right about the "better quality" pressings arriving a few weeks before the "Flood" of boots Edited February 18, 2012 by allnightandy
