Are The Both Uk Originals? Soul Time

Hi All,

Just wondering if someone could help me out on this one?

Shirley Ellis - Soul Time - UK CBS

Both state that they are UK originals but the centre is solid on one and 4 prong middle on the other.

Is that usual? Is one more demanded than the other?? I would have automatically gone for the 4 prong middle over the solid one but have been told this morning that I should go for the solid middle everytime.

Confused, I certainly am!

Any info greatly appreciated :thumbsup:post-5150-0-47701500-1329406542.jpgpost-5150-0-93278500-1329406560_thumb.jp

It's the one on the left that is original. Note different release #.

ROD

Couldn't see the different release # from the scan from Popsike....eyesight = piss poor!!! :(

I should've placed a bet with the Old Fella here...... He consulted Tony Reynolds in Brum who reckoned the solid centre everytime!!

Should have gone to Specsavers and Soul Source first!! :D

CBS 6 figure numbers run from 1965 to 1967, they always begin with 20, then they switch to 4 figure numbers.

The Shirley Ellis was bootlegged on Soul Sounds so I reckon the second issue must be from 1971 or thereabouts.

It came out again with the mid-70's CBS design, some were on blue vinyl.

Well the seller of such a re-issue doesn't seem to be happy with my request to return the item.....

Asked politely if I may return it, as it's for a gift for my partner, who collects originals and UK originals when possible. Which is very true indeed.

When he opened it, You could see the look of dissapointment and thats why I asked the original question on here. He took the advice of his DJ pal and I took the advice of the SS crew.

Seller reckons that it's my mistake as a buyer, I should know better and should have done my homework first! I don't ever claim to be an expert or a serious collector but in fairness....He posted it up as the UK Original pressing and not a re-issue!!!

If the seller has stated that it is a UK original issue then he has mis-sold it and you should ask him once more for a refund and then tell him that you will be opening a case for item not as described. And put a link to this thread as well!

He's agreed to the refund but says he stands by his description as a reputable seller that it is an Original 1969 issue!! Said that he never claimed it was the Original UK 1967 issue. Date on the 45 to be returned says....67! although in fairness the ad did say 1969 (UK original)

Still a re-issue regardless!!

Thanks Pete
