Dave Moore Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Proper rare record. Only seen a couple over the years. This one looks in real nice nick too. Any takers? https://www.ebay.com/itm/EXTREMELY-RARE-Northern-Soul-45-YUM-YUMS-ABC-10697-Stock-Copy-HEAR-M-/170775063901 Regards, Dave
Dave Moore Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 Very nice , wonder what it'll fetch ? Swifty Or if there are any more there, all nice and shiny and properly sleeved? I wonder if........ Regards, Dave
Pete Eccles Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I would have to be asking for scans of it not in a sleeve, I would feel a little uneasy paying what this will probably command on that viewing alone, so I won't be asking lol
Pete S Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 It takes a lot for me to get excited over a record nowadays. I just got excited! What a beauty - only the second I've ever seen. 1
Guest MrC Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Beautiful! And out of my price range unfortunately
Spook Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 There was an issue on ebay about 2 months ago, and it got pulled after about a day. David
John Reed Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 A strong VG one sold on ebay last year for just under $3k, so wouldnt be surprised if it smashes through that considering the condition. As people have said, it sure does look pretty

Garethx Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Sebastian is correct. That sleeve was only in use until the very early 60s. Anyone got any ideas where this might have been pressed?
John Reed Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Nice! Wrong sleeve though... So how much will a wrong sleeve knock off the price... a grand or so?????
grant Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Noticed the item is located in Austin, Texas, wonder if the seller found it there? when i was there 2 yrs ago I found sweet FA
Guest Preems Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Same seller do you know? Regards, Dave Definitely not the same seller, I remember the other auction as the person had a story about owning a record store and not wanting to sell but needs for store made it necessary. This seller (Sprydiddle) often seems to have things in mint. Definitely a warehouse I'd like to be given a shopping spree in
Guest Preems Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 actually here is that sale --> https://www.popsike.com/RAREST-Northern-Soul-STOCK-45-YUM-YUMS-ABC-10697-HEAR/110719003320.html
Wiganer1 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 why are issues like this and holly st james and geraldine hunt so rare ??
Harry Crosby Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 why are issues like this and holly st james and geraldine hunt so rare ?? POST 2 Mark, may give you some answers
John Reed Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 why are issues like this and holly st james and geraldine hunt so rare ?? There are many many reasons why these issues are rare and have been discussed in the rare demo or rare issues threads. Contract or distribution problems, artists dying or leaving the group. A lot of southern soul records suffered from terrible promotion and distribution issues.
Guest gordon russell Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Sebastian is correct. That sleeve was only in use until the very early 60s. Anyone got any ideas where this might have been pressed? vinyl carvers?...

To go to the length of making issues ..usually meant there was a demand for the issue copy to justify production ??
