Guest Andy Kempster Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jax5_Bl0bwI not exactly northern i know but mental as fook
Guest Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 bad start, terrible lyrics, gave me a headache i'd say its awful... but i'm glad we are all different.
Guest allnightandy Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 The Introduction sounded like a piano falling down stairs !
Dave Fleming Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 , Sorry mate a BIG NO NO from me,very messy, but horses for courses and all that, Dave f.........
Sebastian Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 A fantastic tune. The psych / "freakrock" crowd is going apeshit over it. "Gypsy" is a 45 only track if I remember correctly but that "Chequered" a.k.a. "New Revelation" LP is very in-demand.
Scotters Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Sorry Andy...Hurt my ears too. Could only stand 10 seconds to be honest
nickp Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Definately mental tune, but must agree with Sebastian play this to the right crowd and watch them go !
Guest Andy Kempster Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 heard huey from fun lovin criminals play it the other day on 6music blew me away, definitely not for the northern crowd tho
boba Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I saw this when it was on ebay recently. It's pretty awesome. Not awesome in a way that I would play it on my radio show, but ridiculous and enjoyable to listen to like as a novelty record.
Autumnstoned Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 It's OK - sounds like a live recording to me.
Guest Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 they missed the intro where he says ulrika ka ka
Guest Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jax5_Bl0bwI not exactly northern i know but mental as fook I like it nice dance breaks
Guest Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Jimi Hendrix rip off wanna be me think's You beat me to it Reminds me of the Parkway track Heavy Music - bob Segar......more heavy rock than anything else.
Foxy Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 I may have to re-think my boast of having a go at dancing to any dam thing they play at a venue. Not that my feet couldn't move to it...just don't think my ears and what's left of my brain could stand it again
Winnie :-) Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jax5_Bl0bwI not exactly northern i know but mental as fook I really liked it, definite Jimi sound to it vocally, a bit too quick to dance to for us old folk, however good the gear
Godzilla Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) This is really weird. For a start it's hardly an unknown record and it's not remotely like the stuff that gets played on the Northern Soul scene or any of its spin-offs. Why are people discussing it as though it's a potential new spin? It's like someone posting up a bit of psychedlic folk and then having loads of people on here say how it's not for them. Sorry if I've missed something here! ps - always liked it just for how insane it is given the artist Edited February 4, 2012 by Godzilla

boba Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 It's like someone posting up a bit of psychedlic folk and then having loads of people on here say how it's not for them. Sorry if I've missed something here! I can't tell if this is a subtle shot at me / reference to another thread but if it is ... it's very subtle. Don't make me post more psychedelic folk tracks.

Don't make me post more psychedelic folk tracks. Hey Bob. 1. I'm not that subtle. 2. I don't know the thread to which you refer. 3. I like some psychedelic folk - you took collection of that Estelle Levitt track for me, remember
