Can anyone tell me what I should list this lp at, Sweetest Pice Of The Pie by Bobby Thurston, Mainline 12747. Highest price on Popsike is $575, I realise that it has since been reissued on a different label.

Any help much appreciated,

cheers.

£80 - £100?? I don't think many LP's really go over that mark, maybe 1916 bad ass band, Rhythm machine, things like that do..

There's been a couple gone through on ebay recently Pete, try checking the completed listings. I doubt if it would have made £300.

Found one, Jan 29th, $135 but less than VG according to the seller though and he said he would have expected $400 in mint.

Probably several hundred LPs + go for more than £100, it's no different to the world of 45 collecting.

As for the Bobby Thurston, about £200-£250 for a mint one on Mainline. Hi Hut reissue £30ish. Expansion reissue £8-£10

Great LP, although not sure about the cover design :D ! I somehow "lost" mine a couple of years ago and wouldn't mind replacing it, but not sure I'd want to pay much more than £200 for a near mint condition one on Mainline. Sadly no spare funds available at the mo or I'd maybe make you an offer Pete.

I think even the Expansion "Special Reserve" UK issue 45 which had "Ask me" on one side and another track form the LP (which I can't immediately remember) fetches about £50 these days?

Cheers, Steve

Pete,

Sold mine to one of the big three dealers quite a few years ago and got £200. It went to Japan. Prices on albums seem to have remained stable so £300 isn't out of the question however, using your pricing £250 job done

Worth a mint, one of the greatest, if not the greatest 70's songs ever, cannot believe they cut outro off one of the re-releases, absolute heaven as he swoops out "give me one more try, and then "money can't buy" , you can tell Pete even likes it but he cannot admit it.

I have had 3 copies of this over the years, all without cover bizarrely.

Anyone got one without cover for £50 these days???

I can't admit to liking it Jock because I've never played it!

It was hitting £250-300 in 2000/06 on ebay for a nm copy.I know a lot of prices have come down so worth checking popsike.Wasn`t a very easy lp to find on original format.

It`s up there in my all time top 5 lps, think there`s only one average track on it rest are all 10/10.

Still makes my hair stand on end whenever i hear it, remember mr Searling playing this under the name Al Johnton and the hitmen in the later years at the Casino also Clouds Edinburgh. Bought it from Soul Bowl for a wopping 30 quid but sold it on(sure i might have sold it to yourself Jock or Garry Young). This is one of best modern anthems that will fill any dancefloor

Cheers Pete.
