Steve L Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 is this a custom record made for the northern scene? i played another of their tracks (same group?) on youtube and it was reggae? different group? I think so Bob, the black magic label issued a load of tailor made ( and other dodgy) stuff in the mid 70s to cash in on the Northern scene at its height. I'm sure Pete Smith will have more detail on this particular one
Guest Matt Male Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Pete wrote a very good article on Black Magic and other British reissue labels. It's on here somewhere.

I'm sure Pete Smith will have more detail on this particular one the clue for me (besides it being a UK only thing) was the specific pounding northern beat that definitely would not be used in music of that era (e.g. disco).
Stevie T Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 i have , "well i told you" ( chantels) on carlton , worth anything ? , love the male vocal on this , reminds me of Ray Charles
