i played another of their tracks (same group?) on youtube and it was reggae? different group?

It's not in the essential soul guide , So it could have appeared on British ?

I think so Bob, the black magic label issued a load of tailor made ( and other dodgy) stuff in the mid 70s to cash in on the Northern scene at its height.

I'm sure Pete Smith will have more detail on this particular one

the clue for me (besides it being a UK only thing) was the specific pounding northern beat that definitely would not be used in music of that era (e.g. disco).

The real clue to this record's origins is in the producer's name....
