Chalky Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I've just asked the seller what he means by remastered, wonder what he will say?
boba Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 that is a Jamaican seller (in the US), it's sort of dangerous to buy from him because there are so many Jamaican bootlegs that were done for their scene that aren't well known on the northern scene. I think he usually notes when it's not original though.
Mal C Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I saw this a week ago, glad I did not put something on it. m
Guest Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I bought of this seller recently got stung with a customs charge avoid this seller
Ernie Andrews Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I love the way he states "From a recent collection" What he collected them from the bootleggers!
Guest Matt Male Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I think the term super rare is misleading, although I suppose if I go get a carver done, that is super rare since it's the only one in existence. Hang on, 'All records are from a recently purchased collection...' I wonder...
Cheapsiderecords Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I bought one of these Freddie Scott's from Henry's in Toronto maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Obvious it is a boot but cheap enough at the time as I do like the tune.

Hang on, 'All records are from a recently purchased collection...' I wonder... Actually one of the ways you can tell a (US-based) seller is Jamaican is that they often write "rear" instead of "rare". Specifically with this seller, I used to buy a lot of stuff (he does have some interesting records), then like 7-8 years ago I bought a record that was unplayable due to some pressing problem that caused loud hiss. I was buying it as an upgrade. He responded saying "all my copies are like that". I got really mad at him for misrepresenting the item and got into it with him and he refunded my money. I assume I'm blocked but I haven't tried to bid since.
Mick Sway Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 https://www.ebay.com/...#ht_3879wt_1165 great description, doesn't mention it's a bootleg, reissue, 2nd issue whatever - it just says that it's REMASTERED Nearly had a go at this one myself last week until i saw the re-mastered bit and there were others described the same last week, though I can't recall which. It's appaling how folks fake their descriptions as much as the records they sell. Bought two recently described as VG that were so battered they are virtualy unplayable. It's great though that this forum exists to expose these dudes. Thanks for sharing. Mick 1
Mick Holdsworth Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Not really relevant, but it's strange how the logo under the "COLUMBIA" is smaller on one side than the other.

Briank Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 This is what the original looks like....I also asked seller if is a boot, etc.
Briank Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I got a response from the seller and he stated it is not an original.
Ernie Andrews Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) I asked him a similar question : Hi Im a bit confused - you say this is super rare but remastered! If it has been remastered then surely its not super rare! Hope to hear from you Regards Steve Heres his response! "although its remastered if you check ebay often you'lll see that it does not appears very often not to dwell in symantics but thats my explamation" thanks paul Dont know whether to laugh or cry!
