Guest MrC Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) What year is that? Thought the UK magnet label was red and black in the 70s? Is it Mark Holden, not Mark Holder? - Australian geezer, sang that sort of stuff in the 70s? Edited January 25, 2012 by MrC
Pete S Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 What year is that? Thought the UK magnet label was red and black in the 70s? Is it Mark Holden, not Mark Holder? - Australian geezer, sang that sort of stuff in the 70s? No there's two Magnet labels mate, the first one (as above) is a reggae label, the second was unrelated. Singer is definitely jamaican.

Pete S Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Think I've still got a couple of the P.J.Proby records on Gold FAB with a sort of picture sleeve Cheers Swifty That's right, didn't it have the centre cut out or something like that?
Pete S Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Here's another really obscure UK label, sorry about the photo quality but it's a very dark label. This was part of the Rio set up, Rio later owned the Doctor Bird label and more or less everything is by Jamaican artists, but the ones I've found on Venus are all R & B tracks and most are dancers. I think there are only 5 or 6 releases on the label. I know there are hundreds of obscure reggae labels but I include this one for the R & B releases.
TOAD Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 ha ha c&w pete that ones definatly listed. My main want is the gregory issacs dancing floor. Is Cargo uk obscure ?
Swifty Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 That's right, didn't it have the centre cut out or something like that? Yes that's right Pete it's a really amatuerish Black & White photo job , got a box of 45's in the 70's (2-300) of an amusement arcade owner who used to come to our pub , knew I collected records and dropped this box round , all mint with the label corners all stapled! Tons of Reggae Camel, Unity , Parrot?, Island most I'd never heard of. the only US 45's were Florence Ballad - Love Aint Love (I Think ) 10 Copies and Guy Marks - Loving You has made me bananas !!! Cheers Swifty
