Dean Rudland Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I've just been doing some research on a King project for Ace, and I came across a tape for this amazing single, which is listed in discographies as Deluxe 142. What I haven't been able to do is find a copy of the record, the only mentions that it gets on the internet appear to be in discographies. Does anyone have this, or know anything about the singer or group?
boba Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 they had an LP as the messengers incorporated. They are from oklahoma (OKC). This gives the lineup: https://www.popsike.com/RARE-SOUL-FUNK-OKLA-MESSENGERS-INCORPORATED-SOULFUL/330247206054.html this is the LP cover (sick): https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildatar.php?itemnr=4866558382 it says there is a writeup about the group in wax poetics, you could probably get a contact from them or from a funk expert like Dante Carfagna.

Ah so its the same Messengers. Gerald released a track on Midwest Funk. I'll check with him or Dante as to whether they've seen a copy of the Deluxe single. As ever thank you Bob.
Dean Rudland Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 So has anyone owned a copy? Beautiful southern soul B-side.
