I think its disco origins place it outside the rare-soul umbrella. Same as West End releases (Al McCall, Julius Brown) although played Modern Soul in the 80s is now out of vogue IMO.

I've always loved Stang/Turbo releases.All New Jersey ghetto recordings and I think many of these releases have yet to find their audience. Universal took it over when they bought Sanctuary so I'm not optimistic about seeing any future deep catalogue releases. I'm still playing that All Platinum Girls release that Sanctuary did in the late 90's which is FANTASTIC! Ian D
