Pat Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I recently came across a copy of I Just Can't Please You by Jimmy Robins on a label I am not familiar with. I've seen this track on Jerhart but this is the first time I've seen it on this label. The label is yellow in colour and carries the number 108, the B side is I Made It Over Any info would be appreciated Cheers Alan

Amsterdam Russ Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Impression is the first label. The song was picked up by Jerhart in Chicago and became a minor hit reaching something like number 55 in the Billboard R&B charts.
Garethx Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 (edited) Should be worth a fair bit more Kev. As Russell states above Jerhart is the label on which it was a national hit and we're probably a fair few years away from supply running out on that logo as it seems to have been pressed in the hundreds of thousands rather than even tens of thousands. The Impression release is much, much tougher. In my opinion the nicest way to have this 45 is the Impression WDJ. UK collectors will probably disagree and point to the President demo. Pete S Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Impression stock copy is the rarest version. As Kev says, from my memory also, it's a different mix.
Garethx Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Sorry Russell. Your avatar looks a lot like one another forum member used to use.
Amsterdam Russ Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Not a problem, Gareth. To the uninitiated, all Clangers look the same...
Pomonkey Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Have a Texas version and a version in Catalan (bonkers that this exists ) , plus the Mica pressing of JR with the great Roy Wright flip

Pomonkey Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Version as in cover versions by different artists (can't imagine Jimmy singing Spanish but you never know haha, it's by a Spanish 60's beat group)
Soul Shrews Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Also covered by The Loading Zone on their RCA LP with Linda Tillary on lead vocals Cheers Paul
Amsterdam Russ Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Version as in cover versions by different artists (can't imagine Jimmy singing Spanish but you never know haha, it's by a Spanish 60's beat group) I knew what you meant - it was the names I was after. The Texas version is by the Royal Knights? What about the Spanish version? Hey, Paul - see you later tonight...
