Pete S Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 It was played at Wigan at the end of 78 Mark, but only lasted a couple of weeks before being pressed.

Amsterdam Russ Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Undoubtably played “first” by many, many radio stations stateside and wherever the track was issued around the world at the time of release in 1965. Oh, and don’t forget Cal would have performed it countless times on the innumerable jazz circuit venues he would have attended.
Tomangoes Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) Big record at the KGB Sheffield around 79/80 and easily 5 or 6 times a night. Even got pressed up. A touch of velvet was also hard on its heels along with Black Power. Amazing what filled the floor really. Ed Edited January 8, 2020 by Tomangoes Spello

The Yank Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 "Soul Sauce" is a remake of an early 50's tune from Cal. I think the original version of the song was from the 40's - 1

The Yank Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I agree with you 100% which is why I wrote " I think the original version of the song was from the 40's".

Sceneman Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 i found DJ copy on a stall in portobello road in the early 70s for a few shillings ..and sold it to dave edwards a few years back
Soulstrutter Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 (edited) I found a copy in a junk shop in Aberdeen of all places around 77/78 and always thought it was original ... but turns out it's the boot. Never knew it got played at the time (hence why I thought it was areal un as never knew it was booted). Always sort of liked it but never brave enough to play it out back then as a bit 'off the wall' latin/jazz a real Marmite record. ... and would yo have had to cover it up as couldn't pronounce his name Edited January 17, 2020 by Soulstrutter
