Guest jerrio Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 The best he could name was "A full set of Grapevine 7's" reissues that says alot if there were any good records in there he would have named them I was going to view them as they are in my home town,I dont know who it is though,I cant see where it mentions Grapevine Iread it as Gold Mine sevens. He may pull them out of the auction yet as he told me he has been offered £7500 for the black box alone. As been said plenty of bids, £1400 bid up to now.Best of luck to him.

Wonder what's in there?
Simsy Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 (edited) Would you shout about a Frank Wilson pressing, signed or otherwise? DJ's all over the country? That's all of us then! .. On the northern scene, everyone's a dj. That said they just look so damn good, great big box of records... Wouldn't pay fourteen hundred quid though. Let alone seven & a half grand! Sorry you are correct Goldmine sevens I'm not familiar with the lable because it looks so awful so you say he's been offered £7,500 for the box does that mean without the contents ? also if he lives near you are you aware of his DJing escapades ,was he known local gigs he's done etc ? Where does he get the idea that every record is worth at least a tenner from ? Sorry i know that's a lot of questions Edited January 20, 2012 by allnightandy

Sorry i know that's a lot of questions I dont know who it is,Like everywere else in the country Teeside and the North East has a fair amount of regular soul nights. One local collecter/ record dealer rang me to ask if Iknew of anyone selling.I rang another collector who I thought it might have been but he has no idea either. I might have seen him out and about but without a name to go on who knows. All I can say is when I contacted him about viewing he got straight back to me to tell me about the offer he had recieved and I was welcome to arrange a viewing. The offer of £7500 was for the black box and its contents which he says are duplicate copys and some Ska tunes.

Guest allnightandy Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 (edited) He may pull them out of the auction yet as he told me he has been offered £7500 for the black box alone O/T i know but this reminded me of this Back in the wigan casino days some of you will recall that Russ Winstanley had his huge box of records stolen at the time it was rumoured that russ sold all his originals before they were booted/ reissued and that his box was full of pressings and boots it was anounced on stage that if they were not returned Russ might have to give up DJing needless to say a tip off led to his records being found under his car i remember someone in the record bar at the time saying "They probably tipped the buggers out and nicked the box" Edited January 20, 2012 by allnightandy
