Did you get it with the Rose design sleeve? It was one of those generated as a result of the scene, not the other way round, by someone, presumably, trying to cash in. For a lot of us, barely educated at that time, it was remarkably popular. Nowadays - Oh God  ! It's still better than some of the shite that got released though.

I'll bet :D . Stick with '7 Days'. That's kept its credibility all through - and rightly so.

it was if he was disgusted by it and the thought of me buying it for that side.

This was a manic dancer in its day, and always filled the floor at WC.

Not something I would want to hear today, but there's no denying its place in history.

seemingly done by some obscure Canadian group called chosen few , as part of an advertisement campaign for a toy called

footsee

then remixed over here , given the added title of Wigans........etc reached # 9 in british charts .

if i remember correctly , it was some of the Halifax Crew that danced on Top of the pops

The story I heard was that the cheering on the intro was taken from the 1966 FA Cup Final and that you can hear 'Wednesday Wednesday' (as in Sheffield Wednesday) in the backround if you listen carefully. Can't say I've bothered myself.

You are all confusing it with the original Footsee by The chosen few , which was massive

The other knob heads ripped it off

They took the instrumental version of that Chosen Few record, which is the B side of the issue, remixed it, added some effects and that was Footsee. They're one and the same record. There are numerous versions on the same theme, one of them starts with the intro to a little bit hurt, one has different car horns in the middle etc but they all use the same instrumental, the B side of The Chosen Few on Roulette. Kenny posted a good version up, not sure if it's still around, off a Pye acetate.

yes it's on you tube it made me laugh when i first saw it

but as i said when it was first played it was massive then the "lets cash in on northern soul merchants" got hold of it , and as they say the rest is history !

The first and I thought the best was the version with "A Little Bit Hurt" intro.

Not sure who was responsible for that version with the various clips but it was certainly danced to back then.

Not heard it it in years, that version isn't on YouTube as far as I'm aware.

Here's the PYE Sleeve for the UK Version on Disco Demand.

Bought Footsie for the Chuck Wood b side and promptly took a compass to the A side , still got it in its defaced state just to remind me

Ah the folly of youth

How did they get hold of it ?

Podcast I did, I put about 10 of them up last year, deleted them after 2000 or so downloads, saw them appearing on youtube so put some of them back onto mixcloud (as above).

Anyone can do anything with the stuff I post, just wish they'd credit where they got it from.

Yes Pete I do which as you say has unbelievable clapping on it.

Those recordings you made are priceless in my opinion. Tainted Love was another that simply oozed atmosphere.

The only way it was Available before PYE released their version was via Acetate etc because it was Obviously spliced together with various clips..

Still to hear it straight from Acetate to YouTube clip.

Apart from that Live tape of yours which you first posted a few years ago

Surely with it being a record, you didn't need a compass to find out it was a circle?

The first version played was from SS wasnt it ?.....Dave Mcaleer heard it, realised they owned the Roulette back catalogue & recorded the version that was released. Is that right ?.........anyhoo, love it or hate it, it must be one, if not the first example of someone remixing a record for the dancefloor ?. Mr SS certainly was ahead of his time.

Remember the original being played at Samanthas 1974 and I'm sure I can remember the Disco Demand version being played, might have been John Vincent, but its a long time ago and the memory struggles a bit !

By late 74 early 75 it had been dropped and no one would admit to owning it.

Instrumentals were big at this time, Paul Humphries- Cochise and Mike Post- Afternoon of the Rhino, followed the same fate.

:hatsoff2: HI ALL i WILL ADMIT IT. I WATCHED IT RIGHT THROUGH,!! WAS THIS THERE 1ST LIVE APERANCE ON TOTP, OR DID THE SUPERLOVE COME OUT 1sr?

There is no need to give me any info, about this band, whuch is or was at the tume a real hate!!, I suppose in some warped world of a quantum existancwm a bit like the TATE & LYLE LOGO with the BEES nesting in the body of a dead lion, with the words out of the strong comes sweetness, or simular,

My hate stems from the apperance on TOTP on the 7.30 pm slot after TOMORROWS WORLD,THE following SATURDAY NIGHT, AFTER driving up from north herts, because of all the little kiddies that Mike WALKER let in, he told me that the place was full and I could not come in following a talk with him that started with NORTHERN and ended wth a 4 letter word . I got in.

i WONDER HOW MAN PEOPE ON THIS SITE OWN UP AND SAY WHY DID THEY GO, THAT WEEKEND? MY LAPTOP IS PLAING UP SO I WILL LEAVE IT WITH THAT QUESTION WERE YOU ONE OF THE GROUP OF KIDS WHO FELL A SLEEP AND CAUSED MANY REGULARS PROBLEMS? DAVE
